Former Member This says it much better than I did...suppose the messgage is, read the quality papers, not the red tops!!!! Social work- press reporting [ more ]
Former Member Really sorry you had such an awful experience Kelly [ more ]
Former Member I don't know as i've luckily never had any experience with them but have seen stuff on TV etc.[/QUOTE] Problem with TV/media coverage is that they only show the bad, never the good. Thousands of children/families are helped by social workers every day. Sometimes they get it wrong, some are not v good at their jobs- a bit like any profession. Most are doing an almost impossible job, with their hands tied behind their backs due to lack of resources/impossible workloads. I'm always puzzled as... [ more ]

Yellow Rose Same here. As it's the 10th year this may as well be the last year seeing as they're slowly killing off the show from how it used to be. They now choose a lot of unlikeable people instead of funny and watchable ones as in the early days. We used to have extra screens, we used to have L/F etc, it's been a slow death but just like so many other shows it will eventually die and this could be the year [ more ]

hands up who will not bother with bb this year?
squiggle Oh AND the chilli eating contest last year [ more ]
squiggle Yeah that's true and I remember the 2nd, stuck my nose up a bit at the first but soon got hooked I don't like the wannabees they get nowadays but having said that... when you get something riveting like Craig absolutely obsessing about Dale or Glen boiling an egg for the first time and singing and then getting drunk and (forget the name) trying to clear up after him, well I nearly cracked a rib laughing and had to watch it again and again. prettycocoaeyes I liked her she was like a teddy bear... How many of you have lied on your cv? You gat to do what you gat to do to get in there. [ more ]
Gabriel Pennywise I loved pantsman [ more ]
***Mrs BBV*** I found her tendency to resort to psychobabble irritating. It alomost divorced her from the real world of business where psychological tools can be drawn on but are not a modus operandi on how to manage. Considering her background, her performance during the task she PM'd was atrocious. Had she been 'rough and tough' she might have made a better job in controlling Philip, who's Pantsman idea was what lost them the task. [ more ]

Potholes in the highway of life
Sarum Oh, I did ....but we're all entitled to do that once in a while (I hope). And helping people is one of my favourite hobbies [ more ]
Jen-Star You didnt make a fool of yourself, if it makes you feel any better i was slightly drunk too Just really happy you are ok now been thinking of you the past couple of days [ more ]
Sarum Thank you, Shizzle; I remember you posting in there too. You're right, Nadia was a diva...and her antics (although often very amusing) annoyed me too, sometimes. But we have a certain, shall we say, kinship, so I felt the need to stand up for her [ more ]

Shoot to Kill policy
neil3842 really so the police are incapable of hitting a bull on the target range then do we really want such poorly trained killers (sorry police marksman) running round willy nilly. [ more ]
Luxor I think you may have been watching to much television. If you are going to shoot somebody from further than 3 feet you have to aim at the largest part of the body. Guns are not that acurate and except for a very few highly trained people with special rifles the chance of deliberatley wounding someone on purpose is extremely small. [ more ]
Claudia And I would like the chance of attacking them if they decided to attack me. As far as I can see he never fired a shot - why didn't they just sit and wait. He would have lost interest a long time before they did. It seems all too easy to shoot someone as a solution to a problem that was manageable without the use of fatal force. They don't seem to be too concerned that they are going to be successfully prosecuted because history proves they won't be. [ more ]

O'Gara Snubs the Queen
old hippy guy ooer was just reading through this very interesting thread and spotted this, Hi Holly I thinnk I should make it clear that I had/have lots of Irish friends, and to be fair it was only a small minority of people who used to give me a hard time because of my nationality, the VAST majority where very friendly, but there were a few "bad apples" shall we say, I remember the night that the invasion of Iraq began (after 9/11) I was sitting in the canteen at work when one of my Irish workmates came... Golf Nut That's MY favourite poem ever, as well. And that other one of his - "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." [ more ]
Åŗтγмαģš I don't read the poem like that. It's not about parallel universes - it's about the fact that all your life you are making decisions about the next step to take - which job, which partner etc. etc.. Life is like a lot of branching pathways that you travel along and each decision takes you along another road -" way leads on to way". Sometimes you are conscious that the decision is life-changing - sometimes not. Sometimes a really tiny seemingly trivial decision can have momentous... [ more ]

Rawky-Roo
Soozy Woo I dont't think you jinx things by remaining postive .On the contrary in fact. So sorry to hear of the set back but hopefully that's all it is ............wishing her a speedy recovery. [ more ]
Dame_Ann_Average Aww just stay positive and I truly hope everything works out well for your mum when the treatment is finished [ more ]
Rawky-Roo Ok, well I'll try to break it down. I hadn't updated for a while as in February mum had a head scan (as she was suffering severe headaches) and it showed she had a brain tumor. She had it removed and went under radio for her head whilst taken a form of 'chemo' for her breast. Unfortunately test results came back saying that the breast cancer and brain tumor were linked. However her oncologist is 'happy with her progress' and she is due to start more medication soon. Again, i don't want to... [ more ]
