Eugene's Lair I don't think any of that will come as a surprise to anyone. The non-BBC channels effectively gave up on proper children's programming years ago, and while the BBC is still committed its programmes are effectively ghettoized on specific childrens channels. There are still some good original dramas being produced, but they're unquestionably fewer. Interestingly, I read only this week that "Humans" is C4's highest-rating original drama in decades , so it's not like there isn't a demand out ... [ more ]
El Loro A note on the number of hours for dramas I mentioned. The figures included in the data annexe (which exclude soaps) show that the main reduction is due to ITV who in 2008 had 320 hours and by 2014 111 hours. [ more ]

Eugene's Lair Aisleyne chose her fellow guests (so effectively choosing the staff by elimination), so there were natural similarities to the nominations. Not all of the "staff" are up for eviction: Cristian got one nomination and is staff, while Danny also got a nomination and is a guest. Videostar Hellen doesn't deserve much in the way of credit for how she behaves, but she wss spot on about how Brian and Nikki faded into the background when they were all in the bunker and nomination decisions had to be made, and they just stood back and let Marc take all the blame, making them look like the good guys. I do think Helen is a horrible person but at least she gets the stick she deserves, but Brian and Nikki, in their own way, are horrible and cynical people too but get away with it,... [ more ]

Yellow Rose I've noticed there's no fan threads this year, which I assume means there's no hm's that anyone feels strongly enough to support. Even though Marc has some unlikeable traits I couldn't have spent 10 weeks watching hm's lying in bed, not providing any entertainment and acting as if they're on a relaxing holiday.
