Modern Warfare 2 Game
Twee Surgeon To prise it away from him now would be impossible RZB. It is glued to the end of his fingers He didn't want to wait so, as a one-off, I paid the price. And he was determined to queue at midnight. Not many stores were open then so I hadn't the choice. Normally I go to Asda for all games as they are really cheap. I heard Sainsburys and Morrisons were the cheapest and you have proved that by your purchase. It was £31 in Asda today but they were sold out. You got a really good deal. [ more ]

GB spelling and writing
Twee Surgeon Reading back on the thread I was reminded of how the families of World War One were informed that their relatives had died. It came in the form of a standard proforma letter, with spaces for the name of the dead person. It was a form pre-signed and photocopied and it purportedy came from King George V in the form of 'His Majesty regrets, etc'. And most families were informed by telegram that their relative had died. Admittedly, with the sheer number of fatalities in the First World War, it... [ more ]

website - messages of support for our servicemen
Former Member Reference: It's not like someone is asking you to build a house or something, keeping a 2 minute silence has to be the easiest thing to do, If you don't want to do it don't. It's so simple. Like I did today, watching the service. Your point is a non sequitur to what I wrote. [ more ]
Former Member Reference: Sorry? In your opinion what is wrong? Paying respect to each and every one of those brave people who have given their lives? Not to mention the ones who have returned horribly maimed and scarred for life? No no, that's fine. It's the co-opting that I think is wrong. The remembrance day thing is about the Great War and has a particular context and meaning which I think is lost by making it a general purpose war dead day. I'd be happy for another day to be set aside for military ... [ more ]
Essie Reference aniel J* It is, of course, about the Great War despite attempts to co-opt it for anyone who dies in the armed forces in subseqent conflicts. Misguided attempts, in my opinion, and wrong. It's not like someone is asking you to build a house or something, keeping a 2 minute silence has to be the easiest thing to do, If you don't want to do it don't. It's so simple. [ more ]

What is the Government planning now?
Former Member Reference: National Care Service Here's the green paper online if anyone wants to skim-read it. http://careandsupport.direct.g.../greenpaper/execsum/ and the funding options: http://careandsupport.direct.g...sum/funding-options/ Option 1 and 5 are already ruled out. Option 2 is the state pays 1/3, 2/3, or all the basic care bills depending on your savings/assets where the average total care bill for over 65s is £30K they say. So some people will end up paying about £20K. Option 3 is an... [ more ]

figtree Reference: Daniel J* 4997 Forum PostsToday at 01:47 (Edited: ) Reference: Difficult isn't it? Some people will look at that amount and think, "Wow! what a bargain, that's about three cars!" Others will never have a chance of raising that sort of cash. And sadly there will be no rural post offices left to do over with a home-knitted balaclava and a sawn-off to make up the difference and here's me planning just that!Means I'll have to go to town to get the job done! Best film director of all time and why.
Twee Surgeon I like Ken Loach as a director. He is independent and fearless, in that he will tackle any subject however unpopular that might make him. He makes films to make you think. I also like directors who veer away from the normal and I suppose M Night Shyamalan and the Coen brothers fit into that category too. But Ken Loach would perhaps be my favourite director of all time. ♥PinkBabe1966♥The Angel under the tree! Reference:Marguerita Quentin Tarrintino Pulp Fiction I'm amazed!! but have to agree that is a great film, along with Kill Bill 1, the second one wasn't as good I don't think. For me it's someone like Hitchcock, John Ford and in the modern era possibly John Hughes, for the Breakfast Club and St Elmo's Fire alone, two films that even now I can escape into and enjoy just as much as when I was a teenager.
