Former Member I like the new year (but not NYE). The days start to get longer, things feel positive with a new start, and I can look forward to spring. Also, the crisp cold dry days are great, I'm not a fan of hot weather. [ more ]

Yes it's a shame we can't be more positivce all year round, it seems from observation over many years the human condition is to be negative. Whether that's because of media forces in everyone's lives that are negative and it all seeps through, or because the majority of people are really challenged in so many ways and they just can't sustain hope and positivity. Ducky Mine's Jesus Christ Superstar for some weird reason. My mum banned me from watching it when I was 13 cos I would cry so much. My son didn't inherit my sensistivity to it. I took him to watch it at the theatre when he was about 10..... he was very underwhelmed. When Jesus was dying at the end (very slowly and dramatically.....you could hear a pin drop in the theatre) he said in a VERY loud voice...."oh for god sake die already" [ more ]

The only thing I could think of was that the triffids could detect the presence of triffid-venom in their eyes (since the triffids tended to aim for the eyes), and be fooled into thinking that they (the people) were triffids too, so they wouldn't attack them.
