Baz Yes [ more ]
El Loro http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b065rn7t It's a repeat from 2 years ago. The play by Keith Waterhouse was originally played by Peter O'Toole on stage and is available on DVD as a performance was filmed. There is a warning for strong language. Although it was broadcast in the afternoon, the watershed rules for television do not apply to radio provided that a warning is given. If it was given a BBFC certificate it would presumably get a 15 as the Peter O'Toole DVD does. [ more ]

BAFTA Awards Tonight at 9:00pm
Eugene's Lair Ah, well: only 1 right on the last 3, as I seriously underestimated the love in the Academy for "La La Land". Usually these movie awards ceremonies are very predictable with the favourites always winning. That was mostly the case tonight, but I was still really pleased to see both Dev Patel and "Kubo and the Two Strings" win. As for the other results: I'm still up on the night, so no worries. [ more ]

Cassette tape album sales grew 74% in 2016
El Loro If anyone still has a Betamax player there are still a few tapes you can get from Amazon. For instance a Paul McCartney amphibian animated song featuring an ursine character: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ruper...amp;keywords=betamax [ more ]
Saint Meanwhile car manufacturers are removing CD players in preference to digital download (MP3) Customer choice should be the buzz word here (at the risk of sounding American) [ more ]
Eugene's Lair I appreciate that the numbers involved are very small, but leaving aside exclusive releases, I can't understand why anyone nowadays would buy their music on cassette. If you really want to play it on retro equipment like a Walkman, buy it in another format and copy it over. One of my big regrets is that as a teenager I bought too much of my music on tape. My main music source was a "ghettoblaster" and I used to repair Walkmen as a hobby so it seemed a natural choice at the time, but with... [ more ]

Garage Joe Or even repeal TU law? [ more ]
Garage Joe My initial thoughts......... 1. "Certainty and Clarity" (sic) 2. "Taking control of our own laws." They have control of their own laws! Traditionally our government have vetoed anything that operates to a worker's advantage. 3. "Strengthen the Union." As Professor R. Fairclough has said, " I think that ship has sailed love." (see also 4) 5. Only controls EU immigration. 7. "Worker's rights." Why all the sudden interest in worker's rights? Do we believe they'll reveal TU law, bring back... [ more ]

Sink Hole
kattymieoww Loads of old mine workings in the central belt of Scotland.I'm in Glasgow and about six years ago we had huge machines infilling in my garden and others, they weighed tons and forced concrete(I think) into large tubes they sanke deep into the ground. They did this before the houses could be upgraded. Eugene's Lair ❤️
Eugene's Lair Bit belated as usual, but: great stuff, Rawky! [ more ]
Rawky-Roo Thanks, everyone. Amythist, I've enjoyed the course. More so for the opportunities and connections I've been able to make. I will say there are elements I'm not too fond of, but that's probably the same for every course out there. You do realise I'm in Toronto, right? It's not a cheap course. I got super lucky in that I received a 90% bursary to help pay for it. If you can afford it, by all means. Toronto's a great city with a huge industry. If not, get him to look into Bristol or London.
