Saint People who seem to be able to make mega money through being talented also seem to be a fool with it once they've 'made it'. [ more ]
Former Member But then I really, really have a problem with any 'celeb' that turns their business affairs over to someone else. Surely past stories must've made them sit up and take notice? Am I being naive/stoopid here? [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I often wonder if their talent diminishes all of the other senses, in particular common sense. He will be fine financially, he has his TV and Radio work not just on the BBC but other stations, then there will be his 'hard luck book' which will be out as soon as he can find a creative ghost writer. help needed!
Baz Awww Yes , it took a long time for them to diagnose Mr Baz ....and then he had to go through some injections into his spine ....before they finally agreed to operate . Mine took a while too ....in fact they initially thought the dizziness etc. Ménière's type of inner ear disease ....it was only an on the ball physio guy that finally got the diagnosed!! Anyway , I hope they get a move on with your husband Machel .... I know what a worry it is [ more ]
machel Nothing else Baz, he was referred to a neurologist first because he has numbness in his hands and now his legs and it was thought to be carpal tunnel. It has taken over 6 months to get to this stage and he has slowly been getting worse. [ more ]
El Loro I've no knowledge of this but I think that surgery can be traditional open spine surgery or minimally invasive surgery (so closer to something like keyhole surgery) If the minimally invasive surgery is an option, then the patient is up an walking within a few hours and there's no lengthy recovery, though there may be a slightly higher risk of accidental damage during the operation. Adult Colouring Books
Saint Twas a deft side swipe ... and don't be thinking of it as a hobby (even if you enjoy it) [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing You've either missed the point completely, or this time your wit has gone of on another tangent! Hobby? Who said anything about a hobby? [ more ]
Saint Oh how I loath them ... have I mentioned this before?? A pox on your crayons, dry your felt tips and crumple your books of colour ... with a 'u' just there. I'm all for 'doing things you like' - I doodle but to make it a hobby!! Go and do some voluntary work like what I did - be useful with your time and stop this 'colouring' (with a 'u') [ more ]

Jack Vettriano
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities Nice insight there Kaffy and I do like the picture above, I think it appeals as I hail from a once industrial city and local artists use past and present industry in their work. It's like a beauty and beast juxtaposition. I agree about the subject of women in the pictures, you make a good point. Hope you enjoyed your birthday. [ more ]
Kaffs I love his work, but Eug is right - the 'establishment' really look down on him, probably because he's so prolific and sells his work for lots of money while he's still alive. A bone of contention is the 'soft porn' aspect too... some of his work is pretty dark in that respect, I suppose. I guess it's ok for the old masters to paint nudes, but a modern day artist painting ladies in a state of undress is a no no. i'm probably slight biased because he's a local lad (I used to live across the... Big Brother: Kayleigh's remarks
Cosmopolitan She's from generation orange, teef 'n t*ts ..... so I'm not surprised that she's limited in her understanding of the huge range of skin tones that make up the general public. [ more ]
Kaffs I've not really been following BB since the second night - but it was on in the background last night - and I did notice that during the arguments, the negatives about the posh guy were his hairstyle, his clothes and his lack of tan. Speaks volumes about the shallowness of the HMs [ more ]

Embedding BBC clips
Baz Ummmm.....ok , its a bit too technical for me ....I need the Noddy Does version .....but I'll take you word for it El [ more ]
El Loro Please note that when embedding a BBC clip, it's part of the BBC terms and condtions that you don't remove any of the content and that there should be a link to the article and where it's from on the BBC site. So that's why in the clip above I've made sure that the Read the full article | BBC News website is showing and also I think it's best to show the BBC logo at the bottom. [ more ]

When did it all go wrong?
Videostar Couldn't agree more. BB4 (even tho it produced the greatest ever HM's in Jon Tickle) also killed the BB we knew and loved, and created this carnage we see today...selling the rights to the show to channel5 didn't help either. I can remember every HM's name from the first several BB's from the early 2000s, but I can hardly remember any of the HM's from the last few summer BB's...that says everything to me...that's why I'm not bothering with this years show. [ more ]
Carnelian It didn't really go wrong, it just became repetitive and tiresome. Familiarity breeding contempt. C5 have handled it badly but it's a tired old format anyway that delivers the same tiresome stereotypes. One larger than life attention seeking streotype after another just becomes a boring. We all know the types: - The camp gay extrovert, the drama queen, the posh boy, the angry lefty, the busty lovely, the would be gangsta, the hasbeen, the left/right wing reactionary, the cheeky Geordie, the... Theresa May's a 'liar' song overtakes Miley Cyrus and reaches Top 10 in the charts
Carnelian Of course they are, but there's nothing wrong with passionate beliefs. Personally I'd prefer passion for fair wages, equality, anti-racism, compassion than passion for kicking the weakest, blaming immigrants, single mothers and the interests of the monied elite and their enablers, the I'm all right Jacks. May is a shill for monied interests. [ more ]
Carnelian May was useless on the C4 debates. The audience were laughing at a leader whose pitch was how prime ministerial she was. In contrast Corbyn faced down hostile grilling questions with some deflection but much more honesty. Bottom line is she was laughed at and that's how the EU will treat her. They'll laugh at her! Sure the rightist press will huff and puff and spin rotten outcomes as successess, but if the audience laugh at you, that's exactly what the EU will do! Paxman said it like it is... [ more ]

Chris Cornell, 1964-2017
El Loro His widow, Vicky, has written a public letter to him in the US publication Billboard. It reads: To My Sweet Christopher, You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through. You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn’t be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. NHS in England is under cyber attack
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Today at work we received an e-mail urging us all to be extra vigilant over the heightened terrorist threat and giving some guidelines as to what to be wary off and how to report any suspicions we may have! [ more ]
El Loro A hacking group closely tied to North Korea was behind the massive WannaCry attack earlier this month, security company Symantec says. The way the attack was set up made it "highly likely" that the Lazarus group was responsible, it said. Lazarus has been blamed for a 2014 attack on Sony and the theft of $81m (£62m) from Bangladesh's central bank. In those attacks, the group is believed to have worked on behalf of North Korea's government. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40010996 [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Today is the first day since the attack that we have been able to print labels. Manifesto's
Dame_Ann_Average Re: Manifesto's [ more ]
Dame_Ann_Average actually, that was one of the labour party's ideas..or very similar to counter act the rise in immigration. Firms put tenders out abroad to get cheap labour, that's neither the fault of british workers or the foreigners that are brought in to do the work...it's firms trying to get the cheapest labour. We forget that in the seventies and eighties we had to bring skilled labourers from abroad, where was our skilled labourers...doing the Auf Wiedersehen, Pet bit abroad. Of course, they weren't... Saint Industry would not collapse. It's a lie fed to you to justify the 'new slave'. Business would adjust - it has the financial clout and gumption to cope. The new slave is used to drive wages down and productivity up whilst trying to make us feel guilty for being too 'lazy' to take the job ourselves. [ more ]
