Well.......
Former Member Noooo, I refuse to get caught up in the frenzy. The only concession I've ever made has been when I've made a Christmas cake, which has to be made a couple of months before. I get paid on the 18th of the month, so start to think about Christmas shopping after then. [ more ]
Former Member To be honest Growly, I think that way too, but it's like were 'all caught up' and HAVE to do it A month before is plenty time IMO [ more ]

BRISKET *LOOKIE*
brisket Reference: Skylark Are you still on cloud 9 brisket ? Indeed I am Skylark.I can't get over the fact that Hoochie and Dame Ann even had the idea. So lovely of them. Reference: Hoochie we're all part of a wee virtual (if slightly dysfunctional) family..... But we (you, me and Dame Ann) do not belong to the dysfunctional wing obviously. It has given me enormous pleasure Hoochie. Just having the idea was inspirational of you. [ more ]
Starfleet Admiral hoochie brisket thank you for the virtual flowers - such a thoughtful gesture. I think we're all part of a wee virtual (if slightly dysfunctional ) family on here, so it was the least we could do. It's nice to know it gave you as much pleasure as we hoped it would. [ more ]

Former Member Reference: Issyjinglebells You have a purple car? I am jealous- what sort is it? Mine is a rather nice blue-green colour, It's a Ford Ka, and it's a very purpley purple. When I got my netbook, I only had a choice of white, black or blue, so I got the white. But I thought it was a bit boring, so I livened it up with a lovely psychedelic pink and purple skin. It's wonderful now [ more ]

What's the difference between a satsuma and a clementine?
Garage Joe There are very many hybrids. My favourite was the Ortanique. Essentially Satsumas taste great and in a bold salute to bricolage can be used in autoerotic pursuits. Clementines have no use whatsoever. [ more ]

Eastenders Spoiler
Eugene's Lair Reference stonks Today at 03:04: I thought I'd seen it written here but could'nt remember by who sorry, yes it was one of the most traumatic storylines of a soap I'd seen and I'd been very upset about the Cathy and Jacky miscarage on Emerdale because I'd not long miscaried myself but the cot death in Eastenders was very traumatic so why go there again?, surly they could think of something else.... No doubt the writers will come out with some line about how most viewers won't remember Sue and... [ more ]
stonks Reference: Ah yes - Little Hassan, the son of Sue and Ali (the original owners of the Cafe). I wrote about this recently - for me, it still remains the most moving thing Eastenders has ever done. I still remember the reaction to it: people were discussing it in the street as if it was a real death. I recall Steve Wright mentioning it on his Radio 1 show (as was), and saying that he kept having to remind himself that he was just a fictional soap character... I thought I'd seen it written here... Aren't we going a little OTT
Former Member I echo what Suzi said - I respect the fact that you did apologise PP. [ more ]
Suzi-Q I hope you don't decide to leave, PP. I admit, I get just as frustrated as many others, but the whole point of a forum is for everyone to leave comments about their views. Sometimes people agree, sometimes they don't *shrugs* that's how life is. My cats think they should have roast chicken everyday, I don't. Until they get a job and start providing their own chickens for me to roast, they will get the leftovers. It meant a lot to me that you apologised because it meant, to me, that even... [ more ]

Strictly Come Dancing ( Bottom 2 spoiler)
Suzi-Q Shame. I thought Ann had overstayed her welcome last week. For me, she's just not entertaining anymore. Yes, her tango and flying were great, but she is still reaping the benefits of a dance she did weeks ago. She isn't even funny anymore. I'm of two minds with Gavin - he had improved over the past two weeks, but was back to a dancind disssaaaaaaaster this week. I was confused with the music they had, it would have suited a quickstep - his best dance - for the American Smooth, yet they... [ more ]

darloboy (Play The Game!) Reference: If I was her I would be too embarrassed to stay after the first couple of weeks.... I disagree, it's obvious she's the worst by miles but the BBC invited Ann to take part in the competition in the first place under the same rules as everyone else, so they are to blame for her still being in. Ann and Anton are getting enough votes to stay in which they can't do nothing about... Well Ann and Gavin must be doing well in the voting so far to still be there . [ more ]

Carnelian If hearing classic songs buried under plodding reggae by numbers arrangements and a disinterested singer droning on while waiting for his next pay cheque is your passion, I can recommend this one. I hope you all have your firewalls on
El Loro Reference: Is Norton enough? It's an industry standard, but it should be kept up to date. Also Norton is for anti-virus. I don't use it so I don't know if it includes firewall protection as well. Some versions of Windows do include a firewall. The simplest way to check on a Windows pc is to check Security Center from your Control Panel. You should see that both Firewall and Antivirus are on. You can also check there which firewall is in operation and which antivirus s/w is in operation. Note... [ more ]

PeterCat Reference: One wonders why he feels the need to admit anything to the repressed gentlemen of the Sun? If they're still operating the way they used to, it'll be a case of them phoning him and saying, "We're gonna publish this about you - want to come clean to us instead?" [ more ]
Garage Joe I apologise! Some guy from the Sun said on R5 that he couldn't work out why he had resigned either. Apparently he has sold out his next tour. All publicity is good publicity! [ more ]
Carnelian I can't help thinking 'And?'. Embarrassing for him, embarrassing for his family, with much explaining for him to do but other than that, I can't see what the fuss is about and why he should need to resign over it. Former Member Reference: Just edited - apparently the organ, a liver, did get to where it needed to go, there was already an ambulance to take it to the QE - it proceeded as normal. El Loro Reference: brisket Have I got that right? I think so, but that is based on what someone posted here a few weeks ago. I'm on Virgin nowadays as there is no date on the BT website that they will be installing fibre optics in my area for at least a year, and I suspect a lot longer. [ more ]

brisket Thanks El Loro. I was prompted to ask because, like squiggle, they have recently laid down fibre optic cable in my area.
