CD's were supposed to be the way forward
Carnelian CD is still the most portable format. I can't play MP3s or any other music file in my car or on my CD player. On the other hand, I can't play CDs on my mobile phone. MP3 is a good way to have lots of music at hand to put on an MP3 player or micro SD card for your mobile and it cuts down on storage space, without too much lose of quality. Thankfully the dark days of DRM on CDs and MP3 files are receding. I've not had any problems in converting all my CDs to MP3. True, there's a whole set of... [ more ]

New Breastfeeding Doll for Girls - Good Idea?
Garage Joe I wasn't blessed with sisters, daughters or granddaughters (TF!) so I'm not an expert, but I've always been interested in all this nature/nurture business. From the descriptions and comments this all seems relatively harmless. My ten month old grandson seems to want to destroy and dismantle everything. A brief ban on toy weapons led to my son biting gun shapes out of toast. Likewise there must be some latent mothering nature in little girls. Before I had descendants I assumed all such... [ more ]
machel there are two separate points here a) breastfeeding is natural, and b) a child's play. for the first point a toy is not needed - new mums will get all the support they need from health care professionals, for the second point play should stimulate the imagination (i'm not going into depth its a long time since i went to uni) both are separate issues. Disney messes with "Miss Marple"
Yellow Rose When I was younger I read every book Agatha Christie wrote. I loved to get lost in them and devour every twist and turn of the mysteries. My favourite character was Miss Marples, the more I read of her sleuthing the more I conjured up an image of what I thought she'd be like in personality, behaviour and even appearance. I remember watching a film with Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple and as much I'd enjoyed other Rutherford films - I love the old films -she wasn't "my" Miss Marple at all. [ more ]
