OCK NOOO! Children in Need is almost here :(
Garage Joe Our mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Our vision is a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential . In 2008 the BBC Children in Need Appeal raised over £38 million and for every penny you gave the charity a penny will go towards projects helping disadvantaged children in the UK. I'm not a big fan of charities per se, however if you are going to give you may as well chose... [ more ]

Heartache I've never understood why the human species believe that they are superior to other species. And think that an emotional response to anything is exclusive to us. I've always thought that we could learn a lesson or a hundred by observing how other creatures cope in unusual circumstances. [ more ]

Life's too cheap in Britain.
Demantoid People in power keep banging on about prison being there to "rehabilitate" prisoners. They seem to have forgotten that that is a secondary element - the prime purpose of jail is to PUNISH. Because our jails are overflowing, everyone from politicians to penal reform groups say this is because we're jailing "too many" people. Actually, it's because the number of prison places has not kept pace with the growth of population in Britain. There aren't enough cells because (durrr) THERE AREN'T... [ more ]
Former Member Reference: figtree We need to ask the question why? Well, IMO, it's because no one takes responsibility for their own actions. Parents don't take responsibility for their children, because the government will take it. Yet the government won't take responsibility for it's own actions either. [ more ]
figtree Reference: cologne 4579 Forum PostsYesterday at 15:04 (Edited: ) I don't think asking for the death penalty and National Service is the answer. Parents need to rediscover responsibility for their children, Teachers need to do their job without worrying about how to behave around pupils, Police need to be able to tell youngsters off without worry about retribution. Finding the adhesive of family and extended family again. Those are the remedies to our society IMHO. Agree with you cologue! We... [ more ]

Queen of the High Teas My beautiful boy Murphy who died aged 14 on 4th July 2008. I still cry for him now and I miss him always. Broken Britain...
Demantoid Reference: when the spotlight is on feral mobs of yobs, kicking people in the head and stamping on anyone who confronts them, generally making life on some estates miserable as they swagger about, up comes some thing to shift the focus onto women. Former Member Hello Sir HP! I haven't seen you in ages! Good to have you around - hope life is treating you well! [ more ]
Sir HP Reference: Oh I wasn't worried by Griffin's performance, I was very pleased by it. He made a complete fool of himself. Of course, that probably won't make that much difference to the core voters in his target cachement but even so it was funny. I agree, Jack Straw was diabolical. As were the other panellists. At least Griffin can't complain that he was put up against some political and academic heavyweights to bully him and take apart his incoherent arguments. He got off very lightly there,... [ more ]
Former Member Reference: It was whitewash (pardon the pun) I didn't get to hear Nick's views. I want to know the truth.. I wouldn't hold your breath in anticipation of anything particularly coherent. You'll go blue in the face otherwise. The BNP website is quite interesting, especially the crime and justice section, as it soundbites lots of the sorts of opinions here on the forums.
