Anyone here in Life Assurance?
Garage Joe Reference: I'm surprised they didn't accept your Bank Manager as a suitable referee. Thanks EL. This seems a whole new ball game after passports. They were dead easy. Our local postmaster used to do them. The people at this particular Life Asssurance (named after a city in the German speaking sector of Switzerland) keep quoting Money Laundering laws at me. As with most things you can bet your bottom that the people who are abble to navigate through this with ease are the people who are... [ more ]

Tiger Woods press conference
cologne 1 Reference: I think that's closer to the bone, Yellow Rose. I completely agree and, for what it's worth, Golf is just another sport, revered by some but mostly ppl are bored to tears by it. Kat's Barnet!
Cold Sweat Reference: 'I burst into tears and then Jo made us all vodkas and I passed out on her lap. The family seemed a bit nuts to me, although I’ve got nothing against them.’ I wasn't aware that Jo and Kat had met. Reference: Four months ago, in a desperate bid for attention, she slashed both arms with a pair of scissors. She ended up in hospital with 12 stitches. ‘Ronnie wouldn’t see me there because his management didn’t want the Press to find out,’ she says. This is quite shocking, if true. [ more ]

Embarrassing bodies
Yellow Rose I watched about 10 mins of the last series and didn't feel inclined to watch any more. On a chat show the other night someone connected to the programme said that a 14 year old boy was watching when testicular cancer was being talked about, he later checked himself and told his Mum he'd found similar symptons. It turned out the boy later found out he had the condition. That to me said the programme will be helpful to some and possibly save lives. As someone else here said what I don't... [ more ]

Communal changing rooms

Sarum Reference: Communal changing rooms We have communal locker rooms at work, so I share with 30 or 40 other women at least twice a day. It doesn't really bother me...it used to, a few years ago, but, as one of my best friends pointed out, I spent years sharing a locker room with a bunch of men , which, believe me, is much less pleasant... Although I'm still not entirely comfortable with communal changing rooms in gyms and swimming pools...undies is one thing, being completely naked is a bit ... [ more ]

Stupid things you believed and did when young.
Cariad Actually - this is really stupid. I grew up near the Carmarthen Bay Power station on the South Wales coast near Llanelli. It was so big you could see it's three huge chimneys from north Devon, obviously employing most of the local population. We moved there when I was 5 and for ages I was under the impression that only 3 men worked there - one to "work" each chimney. What a noob as my daughter would say.... http://web.mac.com/byronwillia.../Carmarthen_Bay.html [ more ]

How do I build up my immune system?
Baz I've got no suggestions, other than the ones above, but hope you soon feel better Karma.... and recommend a big [ more ]
Former Member I've found Zinc is the best stuff for helping my immune system. If I take a tablet a day it stops me getting cold sores which I am plagued with when my immune system is low. Just don't take them on an empty stomach or they can make you feel nauseous. Oh and steer clear of Holland and Barrett stuff if you can - it is really sub standard. Vega or Quest are the best for supplements I've found - try your local health food shop Feel better soon [ more ]
squiggle SazBomb I had to look carefully into the make-up of the Holland & Barrett Echinacea and it definitely isn't as effective, in my opinion, as the one from, say, Healthspan. Its to do with using the leaves of the plant which is the most effective part, not the root. [ more ]

O/T Weird Postal Deliveries from the Asylum and Immigration Department
Kaytee Croydon doesn't just deal with Immigration as I discovered when my new passport arrived postmarked there. This could be something as simple as a wrongly filled in passport application or one for a work permit etc and nothing sinister at all. Maybe Croydon wants these people to come for an interview and simply have the wrong address... However, if you're concerned try and E Mail Croydon...the website is a bit useless at giving contact details I have to say, although the people at the main... [ more ]
Former Member @ Ditty - I've got the website up and there is a contact number about general enquiries which I might ring in a bit. @ Bunny good advice hun, I will ring this general enquiries number and also contact the post office and see what they say. Thanks all [ more ]
Baby Bunny Pengs, I would contact via email (so you have proof) the department (if you can find contact details) and voice your concerns. If they don't give a satisfactory response I would then be on the phone to ask why people might do this - what are the common reasons people might use your address? Then I would email them again relating the details of the phone call ie "In relation to my phone call of x date, x time to Mr/s x" so you have some proof the conversation took place. I would also email... [ more ]
