Karma_ Reference: not the first time you've had digs at my posts. And it's not the first time people (including myself) have asked you to put 'spolier' in the titles of your threads that contain information about future soap episodes is it? As an afterthought - you think 'numpty' is me having a serious dig at you? Are you for real? [ more ]

Yellow Rose The thing that confuses me about the "passive smoking" argument is, many smokers have pets, when their pets die I've never heard of the cause of death being diagnosed as having been caused by passive smoking. [ more ]
~Lee~ Great post Deman....As a child we were subjected to smoking everywhere including our P5 teacher sat puffing on her cig during class....I smoke and tbvh I am sick sore and tired of being viewed as some sort of Leper....What can I say I'm an imperfect person in an imperfect world. [ more ]
Sezit Joe, I absolutely agree with you. We were brought up with smoking everywhere. I even remember going to the supermarket 25/30 years ago and people would be smoking up and down the aisles whilst doing their food shopping. We also used to get smog, not just fog. It was yellow and choked you, but, there were nowhere near the incidents of asthma etc. like there is today. So, very suspect if you ask me. [ more ]

Yogi19 Reference: As a person who can remember local flour mills, local brewries, local shops, and people delivering stuff on bikes, or using horses, it saddens me that so much power is being given to the large supermarkets and their ridiculous transport network. They aren't even cheaper. Local cakes are best or a merringue. Well said Joe. [ more ]
Garage Joe Reference: That's them bunging up the price of my cider again! I was drinking this long before it became popular or the preferred beveridge of the local "Jaikies"..ahem! It is also the beverage of choice for Mrs Joe. [ more ]

Cats with behavioural difficulties
Crunchy Nuts Wispa Barton needs to sit down and take a long hard look at herself and think where she wants to go with her life. She's came to a crossroads where her life can go 2 ways. She can go on and have a good life, or she can carry on the route she's taking and be a criminal for the rest of her life. [ more ]
Crunchy Nuts She's definitely not unhappy though, that's the thing. I don't want to wreck her life by taking away her fun and making her into a boring cat. I just want her to kind of restrict it to like just a few hours a day or something She's fast asleep now, so it's peaceful at the moment. She's spent her whole day tormenting the dog in next doors back garden [ more ]
SazBomb Crunchy, I saw an advert for this the other day in the gym, thought it might help with your cat's behavioural problems : http://www.feliway.com/gb [ more ]

Garage Joe Reference: Losing something - then spending hours of your day, trying to find it May I refer you to my previous and many times repeated point? Karma_ Ooooh smart move lady! Identifying the problem and matching it with an unquestionable solution. You should be in sales! [ more ]
Demantoid We've already had our pay rise, Karma, because we didn't get one last year. Actually, my appraiser was pleased with me overall, and I pre-empted any talk about my recent 'attitude' by saying if X, Y and Z had happened to you, you'd be sullen as well.. [ more ]
Karma_ Deman I don't know of any companies who are giving glowing appraisals at the mo, mainly cos they are trying to retain budgets and meet YoY targets after the recession and don't want people asking for pay increases. Shrewd gits! [ more ]

Demantoid Essie, don't let one bitch of a doctor put you off doing something that could save your life. Docs often like to have students observing - it's how they learn - but you can refuse this, if you'd rather not be gawped at. I've been known to say no, which always surprises them. But there's nothing they can do about it. [ more ]
~Lee~ Essie I loathe having them done too but because of past history I have to have them...Like you the dreaded speculum always haunted me but last time my doc used a disposable clear plastic one and tbh I had no problem whatsoever with that....Please book a smear asap. [ more ]

HELP AGAIN - this one will stump ya's!
El Loro Although I have a caller display ;and phone, sometimes I get a phone call where nothing is shown. This can happpen from calls from people I know whose number normally is shown. I just put it down to the system not being fool-proof. Karma_ My first thought when seeing this thread is that DiD's is a poet and she doesn't know it! I lost track of this whole case a while back. Odd dad, odd situation, just odd everything. So the latest is the boy's back home? Wasn't it reported recently that the parents were in on the whole thing from the start or is it now believed that the child really was kidnapped by unknowns? [ more ]
Blizz'ard Reference: liverbird I agree jen - there is something very strange about the father. I never understood why he flew home while his son was still missing..... I presume he came back to raise the money and to work with the police here. If you read Joe's Guardian link, above, it makes more sense why he came back. [ more ]

Worst so called "Terrorists" Ever...
Former Member Did you watch the vid in the park Bliz? ....Sure if I'd been in the park at the time, I'd have thought, "Ah shucks, nought to worry about there, it'll just be a homage to action hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger" And this on BBC: Police discovered extreme material Mr Ahmad had written, extremist speeches, martyrdom videos and mobile phone images of executions when they searched his home in Whalley Range, Manchester. A further camcorder video tape allegedly showed Mr Iqbal holding a young boy and... [ more ]

From the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/eng...ncashire/8577139.stm The Iqbal family home in Percival Street, Blackburn, was searched and officers uncovered an armoury in a cabinet. It contained numerous air rifles, knives, machetes, a sword, a crossbow, various ammunition, books on weaponry and hand-written notes on "attack planning" and "urban combat" A desktop computer was also found to contain extremist material. Oddest food you've eaten
Sarum Reference: sarum honestly eat some normal food your descriptions make me think you are mrs bear ghryls * sp that guy who lives in the wilderness * I do eat normal food now (mostly ) All of those things were from about 25 years ago, when I was on the run and living rough in the woods...
