Old School...
El Loro Some really old school music: Arthur Rubinstein playing Liszt' Liebestraum number 3: The original version of Kurt Weill's Mack the Knife (sound only). It is sung by Kurt Weill in 1928, hence the poor quality. It is of course in German. And even older. From 1927 Al Jolson in The Jazz Singer - the very first sound film. So not to give offence, this is not the infamous scene where he is blacked up, which may have been acceptable then but is totally unacceptable now. The quality is poor. [ more ]

brisket Thank you for the reminder and suggestions. I think I should re-jig the categories - for example, as Suzi-Q has suggested the leading lady kind of actress who doesn't fall into the 'strong womewn' category. I'll give it more thought. I appreciate all your posts. Thanks. [ more ]
Former Member Some good gunslingers from Sergio Leone - Henry Fonda in Once upon A Time . Not strictly cowboys though Gena Rowlands for the strong women category [ more ]
Suzi-Q How about a leading man? Of course, Cary Grant would win hands down, but could include Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck. Clark Gable. Then of course you would have leading ladies - Deborah Kerr, Julia Roberts, Sally Fields. And not forgetting the great character actors/actresses - Liz Smith. Judy Densch, Maggie Smith. [ more ]

EASTENDERS: WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!
The Devil In Diamante Reference arlo Oh yes Rachel Leskovac, she was fab in Holby City as the serial killer nurse Kelly Yorke Was that years ago? Did she have a Brother who worked there and she caused a gas explosion? I remember that as my Friend and I watched Holby City avidly following that storyline.... [ more ]
The Devil In Diamante Reference: Not in the same league as Dev mind. However the bloke who plays Nick is far and away the butt ugliest on the tellybox, and for that Corrie should be proud. Yes, he is ugly isn't he...as for Dev, how he's managed to steal a living is beyond me...... Reference: And did ya ner that the woman who works in the vets with Paddy (Marlon's GF) is Cain Dingle's wife in RL? But it's the old school actors who are the best. Ken Barlow, Deirdre turtle neck, Rita, Norris, Paaat Evans, Carol... [ more ]
Karma_ Reference: ut, by far the worst Actress on TV has to be Holly out of Emmerdale....every line she delivers is unconvincing and sounds wrong... Nick Tilsley is another one who has that kind of 'straining for a poo' expression. I think overall, Corrie have better actors than Eastenders, although Emmerdale have some good actors too. (I love Paddy and Aaron in particular). And did ya ner that the woman who works in the vets with Paddy (Marlon's GF) is Cain Dingle's wife in RL? But it's the old... [ more ]

DING DONG! THE WITCH IS DEAD. I feel sorry for her I think she is an example of kids who go into show biz at a young age and are removed from school when they should be experiencing normal life. Paul O'Grady
Yellow Rose I enjoyed his C4 shows - and he had some great guests - but not really feeling it as yet with the night time one, different format is probably the difference. Have never been interested in Michael Ball, not my kind of music which is mainly what he's known for, well to me anyway. Have had the show on in the background in the afternoon while doing chores and waiting for my next show I watch. He seems to refer to himself quite a lot in an almost egotistic way. [ more ]
Cariad Mr Ball butches it up on telly so I'm told. And no - I'm not a fan of Mr O'Grady either. It's me I'm sure. He seems sweet enough and all but there's something there that makes me downright impatient with the man. It's not rational.... [ more ]

Emmerdale "Spoiler"
darloboy (Play The Game!) Reference: Although I bet he'll try lying through his teeth. That character has no conscience, hope he gets what's fully deserved. Well no-one has ever found out about him killing his dad and considering that Charity finds out about him and Eve they could perhaps reveal it at some point leading to blackmail as there is unfinished business there which has been forgotten about. El Loro Aimee, I've had another look at SpiderMonkey's thread on this, and in a later thread he posted this which replaces steps 1 to 3: In which case, in IE's menu at the top (under Tools per El Loro), open Internet Options, select the Privacy tab, and then continue my guide from Step 4 onward. I've done a little snapshot which shows the Intenet Options screen and the Privacy screen to the right - if you look closely you will see the finished result you should get. (at least on my version of IE) [ more ]
Aimee Thanks El loro, i knew it was something to do with an eye i got it to work on the old laptop but obviously need to do it again on the new one, i've been looking and can't find the eye symbol, i'll get my daughter to do it when she get's home and i'll let you know how i get on [ more ]
El Loro Aimee - re the avatar pictures and IE. Spidermonkey came up with the answer a year ago. I suggest you highlight the below, copy it by pressing Ctrl-C, then going over to Word or something, paste it (Ctrl-V) and print it off. This is what he posted: Like me, you will no doubt have been suffering with the avatar/images issue where most pictures fail to appear. I am happy to tell you that I have found a way to fix this. The problem seems to be that all the avatars and so on are from the... [ more ]

I am furious at BT... mad as hell..
The Devil In Diamante I used to have my phone line with BT and my internet with O2, because I had an O2 PAYG phone I got unlimited broadband for £7.50 a month...it was brilliant, all I had to do to get that price was top up the mobile by £10 every 3 months. I changed my phone over to Talk Talk, but got a Broadband Dongle with Vodafone, THe Vodafone Dongle was dreadful and they finally let me out of the 18 month contract early, I'm now on a 30 day rolling contract with 3, and it's brilliant.... ...as for Talk... Leverage - the must see series starts tonight on Freeview
El Loro I saw Leverage last night and it seems quite promising. Xochi is right, it has similarities with Hustle, but combined with a touch of Mission Impossible. (And a touch of Lost in that it uses flashbacks of characters' pasts). It is repeated today at 8 pm. [ more ]
Xochi Reference: (and hopefully makes up for yesterday's Seven Days) Nothing, nothing could make up for that misconceived, reprehensible dross! But thanks for the heads up there El Loro...
