Celebrity Deaths
MikeOxlong Maybe the ball-gag and gimp mask were a bit of a giveaway..... [ more ]
bozzimacoo On the morning of November 22, 1997, Michael Hutchence, aged 37, was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney (now the Stamford Plaza). A belt found at the scene suggested that he had died by hanging. The Coroner of New South Wales determined that Hutchence's death was the result of suicide but analysis of the witness statements in the Coroner's report, the lack of a suicide note and other anecdotal evidence, such as the fact that Hutchence was found nude has... Queen of the High Teas I remember being a bit upset when it happened. Such a waste. But you're right, at least he managed to keep a little dignity in death. [ more ]
Well-Wisher Sad what happened to him: "On 16 December 2001 he was found dead, by self-strangulation, in a room at the Best Western Plaza Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the time of death he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.279%" but I suppose it was a rock 'n' roll way to die and atleast he didn't die on the loo like Elvis or die of something embarassing like Michael Hutchence. Queen of the High Teas Local Hero was a FAB film. I saw Big Country a couple of time live, they were amazing. I had a right crush on Stuart Adamson. [ more ]

hyperstar Why do so many people seem to like Twitter? Simplicity has played an important role in Twitter's success. People are eager to connect with other people and Twitter makes that simple. Twitter asks one question, "What are you doing?" Answers must be under 140 characters in length and can be sent via mobile texting, instant message, or the web. Twitter's core technology is a device agnostic message routing system with rudimentary social networking features. By accepting messages from sms, web,... [ more ]

Forget the MP's expenses and scrap the monarchy instead.
Well-Wisher As I recall that was the Annus Horibilis, the year when two royal couples got divorced, Andrew Morton’s Diana: My True Story was published and there was a public outcry that the taxpayers would have to pay for the £40 million restoration of Windsor castle, the image of the Royal Family at that time seemed lower than it had ever been before. "I think it was a very important year in the queen's life," says royal watcher Robert Jobson. "I think it was the year that she realized and the people... [ more ]

~Orchid~ The standard of songs is getting too high. They have to be rubbish that's the point! I didn't think GN was that bad. He was a lot less intrusive than I thought he would be. Still miss our Tel though [ more ]
Hicky The problem with Graham Norton is that he thinks we want to listen to him, even when there's someone else to listen to. Can't they give us all a button so that we can turn him off. Or a Pause button. Well we wouldn't want to turn him on would we. [ more ]
Well-Wisher Eurovision was good this year. The quality of the songs was generally higher than usual. I liked the giant flying swimming pools but worried that they might fall and crush/drown all the people underneath Graham Norton was just annoying and I would have preferred if he hadn't talked all the way through the link-up with the cosmonauts. Can anyone help me comp stuff
MikeOxlong I'm pretty sure you could do this in Windows Movie Maker on your PC. I have used it to create titled videos to upload onto Youtube. You would need to create your text inserts in Publisher and import them as needed. Once on the storyboard you can determine how long they are displayed for by stretching them on the timeline. Once done-go to "produce movie" and select VCD format. That should give you a file ready to burn to CDR. [ more ]

neil3842 lol that reminded me that picture with the spitfires was withdrawn by the BNP after it was pointed out that the insignia on it indicated that while there were british planes they were in fact piloted by THE POLISH. I remembered it because it made me chukle at the time. However the BNP never admitted this was the reason why the photo was withdrawn. [ more ]

Shoot to Kill policy
neil3842 really so the police are incapable of hitting a bull on the target range then do we really want such poorly trained killers (sorry police marksman) running round willy nilly. [ more ]
Luxor I think you may have been watching to much television. If you are going to shoot somebody from further than 3 feet you have to aim at the largest part of the body. Guns are not that acurate and except for a very few highly trained people with special rifles the chance of deliberatley wounding someone on purpose is extremely small. [ more ]
Claudia And I would like the chance of attacking them if they decided to attack me. As far as I can see he never fired a shot - why didn't they just sit and wait. He would have lost interest a long time before they did. It seems all too easy to shoot someone as a solution to a problem that was manageable without the use of fatal force. They don't seem to be too concerned that they are going to be successfully prosecuted because history proves they won't be. [ more ]

Åŗтγмαģš I don't read the poem like that. It's not about parallel universes - it's about the fact that all your life you are making decisions about the next step to take - which job, which partner etc. etc.. Life is like a lot of branching pathways that you travel along and each decision takes you along another road -" way leads on to way". Sometimes you are conscious that the decision is life-changing - sometimes not. Sometimes a really tiny seemingly trivial decision can have momentous... [ more ]

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing £176 of deals - not bad. [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing You can use your clubcard (and therefore get points) in more places than Tesco and if you have a Tesco credit card you get points everytime you use it, ANYWHERE. And you frequently get extra points for things as well. I just received this quarter's statement the other day. It contained £16 of vouchers which could be used as £64 of DEALS. It also contained coupons for extra points on bacon and bread 35p off Flora, £1 off Persil and a voucher to enter a draw to winn 1,000 points. You also get... [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing The idea is that you don't have to remember to save them yourself and you can't be tempted to spend them and remember you can pay in extra money and then come Christmas/New Year most,if not all, of your extra expenditure is already paid. You get your vouchers in November. [ more ]
