Heather Watson, Laura Robson, Johanna Konta and Emma Raducanu
El Loro Laura Robson has been announced as the tournament director for the new WTA 500 tournament at The Queen's Club in London, the first WTA tour level women's event in London for over 50 years. The event starts on 9 June next year. She steps down from that role at the lesser WTA 250 tournament at Nottingham. West Indies v England
El Loro West Indies got the required runs comfortably so the series was drawn. England were expected to win the series comfortably. Considering they are up against New Zealand and Australia over the next few months, their chances are looking grim. [ more ]
El Loro England avoided the ignominy of going in the list of 100 worst test innings scores thanks to Stokes and Butler. All oot for 123. West Indies require 192 runs to win. Not a huge target and plenty of time to get the runs but not an easy wicket to bat on. [ more ]
El Loro In the third test England's second innings overnight score is 39 for 5. Need another 7 runs to avoid England's lowest ever Test innings score. Need to get over 80 to avoid being in the list of 100 worst innings scores. Subject to weather, looks unlikely that the match will go beyond the third day. [ more ]

The 2015 Cricket World Cup
El Loro England knocked out of the world cup having been beaten by Bangladesh. One match left and they could finish bottom of the table. If they beat Afghanistan (and that's far from certain) it will be their worst ever Word Cup and even if they win, it would be equal to their previous worst. [ more ]
El Loro Looking at table A, looks at present that New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Australia will qualify out of the group stage with the other qualifier being most likely to be Bangladesh or England. Bangladesh play Scotland tonight so a Scotland win would help England's chances. The Bangladesh England match could well decide which qualifies. Bangladesh's last group match is New Zealand and England's is Afghanistan. [ more ]

El Loro Cook out again cheaply in the second Test, this time for 10 runs. Just how long will England retain him? His current form is a liability to the team and he needs to be dropped so that he can try to regain some form from county cricket. [ more ]
El Loro I haven't started a thread for the England v India test series as I've given up following the England team as the current level of performance makes it rather depressing. I see that India got 457 runs off their first innings. In reply England are currently 25 for 1 with Cook out again for 5 runs. Hardly surprising. [ more ]

The Ashes Down Under 2013/14
El Loro If the Ashes were bad enough for England, things have just got a lot worse. Final match of England's participation in the current World Tweny20 has now finished. Their last match was against the Netherlands. The Netherlands batted first and in their 20 overs got to 133 for 5. England were all out for 88. Jonathan Agnew, the BBC correspondent, says that this makes it questionable as to if the interim coach Ashley Giles would now be given the job on a permanent basis. At least the England... [ more ]
El Loro Not surprisingly Andy Flowers has gone. Breaking news - Kevin Pietersen has not been selected for either the tour of West Indies or the World Twenty20. [ more ]
El Loro England have at long last won a match against Australia today in the ODI at Perth. England got 316 runs in their 50 overs with Jos Butler getting 71 runs and Ben Stokes 70. Australia were all out in the 48th over for 259 with Darren Finch getting 108 runs and Ben Stokes getting 4 wickets for 39 runs. Although Ben Stokes dropped a catch towards the end of the Australian innings, it's not surprising that he was The Man of the Match. [ more ]

It is the first time Britain have beaten the USA since 1935. They will travel to Italy in April for the quarter-final, which will almost certainly be played on clay. El Loro I was expecting Nadal to regain the number one world ranking position but he remains in second with Djokovic on 10,980 points and Nadal on 10,860 points. Murray remains in third place. Dan Evans has improved by 30 places to 149th. No changes at the top in the Women's rankings with Serena Williams remaining in first place well ahead of Vistoria Azarenka. Laura Robson has slipped from 32nd to 35th and Heather Watson from 76th to 77th. [ more ]

The Ashes 2013
El Loro Bell's just been run out on 17 Australia 206 for 5 and light has ended the game. Woakes 17 not out. So it's a draw and as you cam imagine the crowd are booing the umpires. There will be quite a demand for the law to be changed. It's been an exciting day made possible by the Australians making a sporting declaration today. The series ends 3 - 0 to England. The next Ashes series in Australia later this year could be really good as Australia seem to have make progress in developing a good side. [ more ]
