BBC loses The Voice
Carnelian Although I don't give a shit about the Voice as a program, what I do care about is the BBC bullied by the right wing filth in government which thinks the private sector shouldn't be subject to competition. The ideological right wing scum in government have sneered at the BBC for daring to air programs that people prefer to watch over what the private sector churns out. A new Star Trek series has been announced
Carnelian EC, you've hit the nail on the head but your post could be reduced to simple adage, 'the proof is in the pudding'. For my part, I found the Star Trek 'universe' from The Next Generation deathly dull. That goes for the Deep Space 9 and Voyager too. The series with the Quantum Leap bloke carried over the same weaknesses. I didn't have much time for the 'story arcs' nor the space opera aspect. Nor the techno babble deus ex machinas, nor that every crew member was exemplary in their own unique... [ more ]

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I suppose it could be levelled at many different series, films and series spin offs from films that they are just money making exercises. I guess ultimately it will come down to whether they have a good story to tell. If they do (and given the advances in TV and film making) then it could be quite spectacular. It's funny I guess that I have a similar opinion of soaps. They have all done birth, death, marriage, murder, affairs, sexuality, disaster and business issues (to name a few) to death. [ more ]
