The 5 contenders for the Labour leader announced
Baz I would really like to see Diane Abbot win... but am afraid it is not very likely. [ more ]
suzybean Out of that bunch hmmmm the younger Miliband. [ more ]
Blizz'ard Apparently, David Miliband gave his nomination to Diane Abbott and asked others to do so too. I think it's quite telling that the only 'left-wing' candidate couldn't get enough nominations, without help from the 'left-of-centre-right' candidates! [ more ]

She seemed to think because he couldn't see her, he shouldn't be able to hear her either, from about a yard away. Stupid mare! I also remember flipping-flops. Horrible bint. [ more ]

Bob Righter
littleleicesterfox Reference: El loro Well spotted Eugene - for those who hadn't picked up on the "Big" reference, this relates to the Tom Hanks film "Big" where s boy goes to the fairground, makes a wish at the Zoltar machine and wakes up next morning transformed into Tom Hanks. I made a LOT of wishes around that time that also involved Tom Hanks... [ more ]
littleleicesterfox Reference: Of course, there's a possibility that Bob Righter will turn out to be one of the Smilers in the recent Doctor Who episode "The Beast Below". which turned to this I swear he taught me history when I started secondary school! [ more ]

Phil Edgar Jones posting on DS BB forum...
Cold Sweat Reference: But rest assured you'll decide who goes. Well, i for one, now feel utterly reassured - and can focus upon enjoying the new series. [ more ]
Eugene's Lair As an aside: I don't personally have a copy of the Ofcom report into BB7 (i.e. the complaints about Nikki going back in), but it's been suggested elsewhere that Phil Edgar-Jones's comments on "Big Brother Exposed" contradict what Endemol told Ofcom. One of the main reasons that Endemol got away with Nikki's return was that they claimed that the returning HM had been a planned twist from the very beginning. However, PE-J said on "BB Exposed" that the twist was entirely his idea and was... [ more ]

A major find of silent films
brisket Fascinating - as is the review to which you linked, conveying the merits of the film in its own right, and also its place in the history of cinema.Thank you. [ more ]
El Loro I think that with the advent of sound, interest in silent films rapidly fell away, and in those days there was little interest in the idea of the preservation of silent films. In those days film was on nitrate which tended to deteriorate. Of course it is only in modern times with the advent of VHS that the idea of finding old films became more popular. Although this find above is important it is overshadowed by the finding of a more complete version of Metropolis by Fritz Lang. It is... [ more ]
brisket It is really reather surprising that things like this can get "lost." I wonder how and why it happens. To go back further in time it is amazing that a "lost" piece of music by such as Mozart, or Haydn can be found. It would be awful if they were gone for ever. [ more ]

Where can I watch past BB episodes?
MrMincePie Think near enough every BB fan online knows mrmarkys site has gone, caused quite an uproar. Alot saying they sent complaints in that they should allow us to watch them... I can't see C4 much attention though, just look what happened with the live feed. We were shouting for it all series 10 and they still wouldnt shift. [ more ]
Demantoid They did highlights videos for BB1-3, I think. BB4 was so boring no-one wanted one, and BB5 fight-night what what got them all cagey about people seeing unedited footage. [ more ]

Demantoid Reference: cologne Deman I know you hate that job, but this person probably does too and just thinks s/he has to turn up so as not to lose it. You did say a while back that there was talk of redundancies. If anything the ones who are left feel even more obliged. I apologise if I'm completely wrong here. You're way off the mark, but never mind No-one loses their job here for being sick, the redundancies are way in the past and he's semi-management, who never lose theirs anyway. Hurrah! Maybe... El Loro Reference: Croc To be fair I've been coughing and sniffing alot lately bu its hayfever causing that FOR THE FIRST TIME AT 47!!! I was talking to someone yesterday and she is really suffering badly from hay fever this time. I think it's because of spring starting late which has resulted in a greater amount of pollen being released all at once. Also I don't think the volcanic ash in the atmosphere would have helped - and there's plenty of that around as I'm sure many will have found their cars... [ more ]

These frogs love tea
El Loro Reference: Scientists have stated many of the plants lost in South America could have potential cures for cancers and diseases etc. At least some in this country have recognised this as shown by the Millenium Seed Bank Partnership spearheaded by Kew Gardens. So far they have secured seeds of 10% of the world's plant species and aim to increase this to 25% over the next 10 years. Places like the Eden Project in Cornwall help educate people and thus help conserve plants and trees. Slimbridge... [ more ]
kattymieoww How interesting! We are losing thousands of species of small animals, insects and plants due to de- forestation. We in the west are to blame, with our demand for hardwoods etc, ironically for decking, furniture etc to enhance our own gardens and homes.Same with the demand for palm sugar, which is in loads of products, biscuits etc.The great forrests of Sumatra and Indonesia are being raised to the ground to make way for palm sugar plantations. Orang Utans, tigers etc may soon be extinct in the... [ more ]

RZB Hoskins is the landlord of the local boozer, he bans the local villain's son from the pub for smoking in the toilets, problem is the villain funds the local football team & wants his son allowed back in the pub, all get nasty & bloody, Hosking loses the battle , ends up bloody & splattered, but wins the war when the villains family leave him, and all the locals turn their back on him. Kaffs Reference: Bob Hoskins Remind me? It's one of those programmes that gets shunted all over the place up here, so I tend to miss the odd episode.
