Help Needed With Computer Virus ....
Soozy Woo Whenever anything like that has happened to me in the past I always turn off in the hope that things will be 'all better' when I turn on again. I'm not very techie minded at all ...............unfortunately a little rest never cured the problem. These viruses are nasty little feckers. Think I'd bite the bullet and get someone in - it may be cheaper in the long term! [ more ]
Green&Pink Blizzie thank you for posting pasting that. Thanks El Loro and Ella I had to switch the computer off for a while cos it was driving me nuts. Holidays dashed?
Hobbes The best thing about camping holidays was NOT listening to Mum and Dad through canvas walls. ***sniggers*** . Butlins and Pontins were for posh gits! [ more ]
Demantoid Reference: I've never seen the appeal of holiday camps - to me they are too much like organised, enforced fun Exactly Our two weeks every summer in Cornwall were probably cheaper than a week in a holiday camp - our tent was a big dirty white canvas beer tent with wooden tentpegs and blankets for dividing the "rooms". We spent hardly any money while we were there, cooked our own grub on a Gaz stove and took our own orange squash and sarnies to the beach. But I always had the time of my life... [ more ]
Former Member I've never been to any of these places but as has been said, times have changed. Decades ago these places were full to the brim as families could not afford to travel abroad. I've never seen the appeal of holiday camps - to me they are too much like organised, enforced fun . It's the demise of the seaside holiday resorts that sadden me. As a child we would always travel to Blackpool, Scarborough, Eastbourne and such like [ more ]

El Loro And when I moved from the Atari 800 to the Atari ST, there was this from 1989. [ more ]
Eugene's Lair Reference Rawky-Roo Yesterday at 20:29: Dear Lord Eugene!! I could only listen to about 10 seconds of that......sorry Do you mean the "Blue Danube" intro, or the "In the hall of the mountain king" background music? I'd definitely agree that the intro is painful to listen to - it rather encouraged you to get quickly into the game! I never had any problems with the background music though, but you've got to remember that, as I said earlier, it was a novelty at the time. Allowing for the almost... [ more ]

Crunchy Nuts Reference: I am NOT impressed!!! 15 quid for 5 minutes. WTF?! Don't order Boxing then. There's always a chance that it's not going to go anywhere near the distance. So basically the fight lasted about 5 seconds. [ more ]

OMG THE CHEEK OF IT!!!
Croctacus So about an hour or so ago there was a knock on the door and lo and behold, when I opened it...it was the same bloke asking to read my electricty meter! Needless to say he got told to Eff off and reminded that I saw him pissing up the wall by the window and the door was shut in his face! The husband called our supplier who confirmed that our meter was not due to be read (it was done in October). [ more ]

How great is this country
Garage Joe In fact private pensions are a minefield. It is true that the government pays the tax up front and one is able to take a 25% tax free lump sum. The major issues surround the fees payable to the fund manager, some people can be paying 1.5% per annum, and the fact that one has to buy an annuity. Rates have never been so low. Can I remind everyone. If you are one of the unlucky people, like me, who had the misfortune to lose a final salary set up and were thus forced into a direct contribution... [ more ]
Jenny By the way Marguerita..... I believe I'm right in saying that initital cash sum amounts paid at the start of the pension are generally not taxable. Something for your daughter to bear in mind when checking. [ more ]

Karma_ Reference: No booze= dull= rubbish posts. Oh Want to say, (and should have said really) - this wasn't a dig at VD, but where I saw a thread that mentioned that someone was ratted and posting it just made me think how often I see it on t'internet and it puzzled me. And to be honest VD isn't someone I've seen who talks about being ratted and posting a lot (this is probably the first time?) Oh bollockies, I know what I'm trying to say but I'm knackered and me brains fuzzy [ more ]
