Jen-Star Bacon GREASE and onions I came home one time and showered (as you do) Shampoo'd my hair x3 and obvs washed my hands a few times during the evening... Next morning, showered.. went to work and i could STILL smell onions on my hands... Had my first day on the road and i liked it! I'm thinking of getting some audio books etc for my 70 mile daily round, thinking of lord of the flies to start with as its one i haven't had time to get round to reading that.. or animal farm. Carnelian Matthew Wright was an expert at playing devil's advocate and also rebutting the lazy mostly right wing soundbites of quite a few panellists while keeping it friendly, cordial, friendly and free flowing. I'm surprised he survived so long on C5. [ more ]

Eugene's Lair She's good in that too. A very underrated movie, IMHO. Did you know she based her character's accent on the TV presenter, Alex Jones? Another film of hers that I'd recommend is the low-budget "The Disappearance of Alice Creed", but be warned: it's not always an easy watch. [ more ]

El Loro Yes, Ponyo's real name is Brunnhilde, one of the Valkyries, who in the Wagner opera "Die Walküre" falls in love with a human and the music during the storm sequence is influenced by the famous "Ride of the Valkyries" theme from that opera. [ more ]
Eugene's Lair Yes: I saw "Ponyo" in the cinema, and the storm is indeed terrific (apparently Miyazaki drew all the sea an wave shots himself). I probably need to see it again, though, as I don't think I picked up on all the Wagnerian references first time round... [ more ]
El Loro Eugene, I'm sure it's the 2010 release of Kiki I saw. Film 4 has shown quite a number of the Ghibli Studio films before often at holiday seasons such as Christmas. If you haven't seen Ponyo before, the storm sequence is quite something. [ more ]
