Cosmopolitan A Nissan Sunny in a dodgy shade of burgundy red. Could have been worse I suppose. We used to go up to Ide Hill and all around the Weald stopping off for cream tea or ice cream. And my instructor, Tony, used to smoke a pipe. He was a lovely old boy. [ more ]

What age did you pass your driving test?
pgtips 17th birthday, driving lesson on my birthday in November, passed 1st time in the February... my daughter is on her 4th test.. failing on the 'maneuver'(reverse parking) why can't they just give her the 'emergency stop' ! [ more ]
Former Member Oooooh a LOT of people passing the first time. I think the younger someone is; the more likelihood that they will pass quickly, as I think you're more confident and less afraid. My auntie took NINE tests to pass and Lord knows how many lessons.. Well over 200 I think. She started learning at around 30 (back in the 70s,) and took about 8 tests over 3 or 4 years and failed every one. THEN she took it up AGAIN about 15 years later in the late 1980s (in her late 40s) and took about 20 lessons;... [ more ]

Does building work ruin a holiday?
Cosmopolitan Ells, really sorry to hear about this situation and I don't want to put a downer on your anticipated holiday but..... the travel agents AND often the hotel concerned usually understate just how disruptive these situations can be. I'd really be pushing for assurances before agreeing to accept the original booking. Hope you get a good deal/offer and have a fab time xx [ more ]

SpiderMonkey We had to go down the Freesat route as Freeview recption is so dire around here. To be honest you can't go wrong with Freesat. You get all the channels all at maximum signal strength. Only downside is you need to pay someone a one off fee to install the dish and feed the cable in. [ more ]
