The US Ambassador to the UK was interviewed the day after the election and he said he looked at all the Polls across the UK and found that 91% preferred Obama. That amused me as I couldn't imagine 91% of the population preferring any British politician of any party, but admit I don't know the stats of electoral votes over the years. [ more ]

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I think LOVEFILM is now owned by Amazon. I had a guy at my door that tried signing me up. A colleague of mine buy's blu-rays (was DVD's) watches them and then sells them on very quickly after. The difference is his costs. If he likes the film he keeps it. Would probably work out a lot more than a subscription service, but it works for him. Plus his choice is as big as the retailers stock. [ more ]

Cagney Depends on the circumstances. I've been known to start drinking at 8am while doing the Xmas dinner. On holiday I have a drink by the pool about 10am. At T in the Park I have cider for breakfast at the crack of dawn. Brunch with the girls at 11am...yeah I'll have a drink. These are good things. Bad things are...not being able to function in the morning without a drink. Drinking to wipe out bad memories. Drinking to make you feel better. Drinking before you go to work etc. [ more ]

Soozy Woo I remember when I first learned to swim. I was about seven or eight - it was SUCH AN SENSE OF ACHIEVMENT - I'd been trying and trying for ages - my sister and friends just got it straight away and I really struggled. I ended up a much better swimmer than them - I was quite good as a kid. It took a while to learn though. My mum learned much later in life (quite a while after me) my dad never managed it. [ more ]
