Looking to the past for one's new calendar might seem counterproductive. But while vintage images may seem dated, the dates themselves aren't always out of sync with the year to come.

In fact, the year 1986 perfectly aligns with the dates of 2014. So those inclined towards the retro could actually use 27-year-old vintage calendars instead of brand new ones.

And we're not the first to have come up with the idea. Instead of shooting a new calendar this year, bosses at Pirelli decided to release an unpublished set of photos by Helmut Newton, intended for the year 1986.

When can I use my favourite calendar from 1906 ?

I've just realised, I can't prove it can I. I'm doomed forever to be known as a guy who bought a 2008 Girls Aloud calendar even though it was a freebie!
