IQ Scores or 'Standard Scores' are typically used for individual intelligence and achievement tests. The key factors to understand about these scores include:

*

A perfectly average score is 100
*

The average range is roughly from 90 to 110
*

The 'broad normal range' of test scores is 70 to 130

If a student scores in the 90 to above range there probably isn't much cause for concern. Scores in the 80s would indicate somewhat more significant concern with scores in the 70s suggesting considerable difficulty. Scores below 70 would be outside of the 'normal range' and indicate severe difficulty.

You are sweetie. My daughter's I/Q. is 115. (she is 14 y.o...) Most paper bags I know have a higher I.Q. than 55. Laugh
IQ is scaled to age so age doesnt come into it Smiler.

55 is really low i expect she was one of the ones that didnt complete it as BB said.

completely agree lee......i was in remedial class myself..i may not have the academic intelligence but i wouldn't call people who have done well and got good exams etc names.

still if you're 'thick' yer fair game it seems.

HugNo Spongey being *thick* shouldn't make anyone fair game....Folk can and do learn more in life and that's just as important imo....That aside what a world if all it contained were brainboxes eh. Valentine

Actually, I have to step in here... NO-one has took the piss or said ANYONE is thick.' We just take umbrage with Lisa suggesting that people who are young know nothing and need to grow up and learn, and basically know sod-all, and she knows soooo much more than them... she was rather patronising and thinks she knows more than the younger ones because she is older.

Sure there are certain things that older people know, but it doesn't make them superior to younger folk. I know some 43 year olds who know jack-shit and are really ignorant, and some 20 year olds who are really smart cookies. Age does not come into it.

No-one has took the piss at all, out of people who are not academically bright; people have just pointed out that 55 is a VERY low IQ! for someone who thinks they are so smart.

I agree, I have nothing against people with a low IQ, and I was also in the 'dunce' class at school, I DO, however, have something against people of low character, and THAT pair are very low and nasty characters

Clapping As I said though; no-one has taken the piss out of academically slow people; just taking the piss out of Lisa who is making out that people who are younger know sod-all. Age is no measure of intelligence. I know some young folk who are very bright and smart and some mdidle age folk who are total planks.

Older folk do tend to know more about life simply through life's experiences....We all live and learn off course....This thread went beyond that imo in relation to some of the comparisons made to her IQ level....That I do find in poor taste.

What comparisons were made about her IQ level? And what was offensive about what anyone said? I don't see anything offensive towards anyone who is not academically bright in this thread.... I said what my IQ was, but didn't suggest I was superior in any way. I really can't see anyone on this thread suggesting she is stupid or making out they are more superior...., Most are just surprised to see her IQ level is so low, seeing as how she reckons she is so smart.

And although older folk have more 'life experience, it doesn't mean that younger folk know nothing, like Lisa makes out. I found her very patronising tonight. As I said, I have met very smart and bright 20 year olds and some really dense 40 year olds. Age does not dictate intelligence.

I think it's a two way thing. Young people have the fresh and new ideas and older people have the experience, which should tell them to let the younger ones have a say because without them, we'd never move on. Thumbs Up
cologne 1
Well said Cologne. I am just slightly annoyed, because this was just a friendly banter kind of thread to have a little pop at Lisa for making out young people know nothing, and it's being made out that people are berating academically slow people and taking the piss out of them, when no-one is. Shake Head

I've said my piece, and I'm off to bed now. Got work tomorrow, and need to get some sleep. Won't be back til tomorrow night now. Byeeee. Wave
