Nah, you haven't lived 'til you've been to the chip-shop on the waterfront at Troon harbour!

Oh Fluffy; you have just taken me back 30 years. We're all in a VW beetle, husband, me, daughter (4), son (2), 2 dogs, steaming windows (it's blowing a gale outside). It was lush and I've never forgotten it.

Sorry   I stand corrected Soozy! In my limited travels, Blackpool fish + chips were the best. They say Brighton's are good but they didn't come close.

There's an art to it definitely.

I know that Ambridge outdoes us in apple recognition stalls, but we still have lots to offer.

Someone will get this.

Try living in blooming Norfolk!

Here: an hour or less drive away from Newcastle, Durham, York, Leeds, Harrogate; one and a half from Manchester, (although tbf, I'd never go there unless it was for a flight or a meeting!); 3 to Glasgow/ Edinburgh: 2 and a half to London on the train, (if you want black bogies!)....and then we can come home to fresh air and open spaces!

Lived in Bradford for a year though and it was horrible . Most run down place I've ever seen and very racially divided. Every time you opened the paper it was an arson attack. Very depressing atmosphere.

Good curry houses 'though but!

Chish and fips are best when a) the fish is fresh  b) the chippy is busy so they haven't been standing around c) you're at the seaside and d )you have immediate access to something to take away that greasey layer from your mouth and stomach

What even Yoruba, Ga-Adangbe and Spanish?

Mmmm, have to admit, not too much yoruba or ga-anangbe around here, but different 'peoples' are attracted to different places, dependant on how they perceive those places and their opportunities..but I don't need to tell you that! My little village is v multi-cultural, in a county that isn't, (other than on all of its borders) but they're pretty much all 'professionals/middle class'..much to to the disdain of the 'lercals' who  can't afford to live here any more

)We also buy tea from the Ringtons man we have several different loose tea blends that Mr Woo likes to faff ( good Northern word) with. I jusy dip a bag. Ringtons do a lovely choc chip cookie though. God knows what's going on with my quoting here. Good Northern words .........faffing, nunty, mardy, nesh. Although I really do prefer my native tongue. My accent remains intact although the occasional swear word does tend to have more ooooooomph with Northern vowels.

Good girl Jen! Consider yourself invited to my next dinner party, not tea...dinner

I've never been to Whitby but have seen shots of it on different tv progs and I'd like to visit it some day. I recently watched a property programme centred around Whitby. At some point they showed a very long queue outside a fish and chip shop in the town, it was obviously very popular. I love the occasional fish and chip meal, Cod and chips is usual choice but tbh not sure I can tell much difference between one fish or another

Sets up trip wire!

Actually, I usually prefer the takeaway and eating them in the open air, on the pier and also like trying out the more unusual, sustainable fish on offer *sticks  tongue out at GJ*
