I watched it on Look North too. We have a couple of serious cyclists in the office and I know another couple out of work. For them it's quite exciting. Have a good weekend away.

Indeed! I have the advantage of having seen two or three stages in the Alps. It was tempting to go to watch this one, but it's better on the tellybox.
Pros ........ The long parade of vehicles throwing sweeties and tat into the crowds.
Cons ......... The cyclists themselves are gone in a flash.

One sees all the fabulous sights from the helicopters on the tellybox.

Ah, you sound like a seasoned veteran. I think you are probably right, I feel the same about Formula One, I've been to see them, but the cars fly by so quick, the TV coverage is so much better and you see more.

I have far too much tat in my house as it is

I do hesitate to use words like 'amazing' or 'incredible' so as not to devalue them, but the sheer numbers of people has not only surprised me, but looking at the buttertubs climb they are amazing. How did they get there !!

Most of the people I know went yesterday afternoon and camped o/n, (lots of 'makeshift' camp sites,) then were biking to their chosen spots this morning

Brilliant turnout, it's making me strangely proud and emotional and beginning to wish I'd gone now!

Yes, Me too on both counts. But I think the British do put a lot into events.

Aren't you Sheffield way EC? Could go tomorrow?
