Unfortunately that's not the case. The second amendment to the US Constitution reads:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
There have been varius rulings on that but that's what the likes of the NRA rely on.

An article written last year did make the suggestion that the amendment should be altered by the addition of 5 words to read:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms when serving in the Militia shall not be infringed.”

Yes, I expressed that incorrectly the right to bear arms is a right to defend yourself not specifically carry guns. If you carry a knife, sword, pitchfork, baseball bat, etc. then you are armed.....and no gun in sight.
And this is only up to October 2nd There's another report of guns tonight 
it's not so much a gun issue rather it's a society issue
