Yeah...Steve Jones was atrocious.

He's no Dermy

Steve was natural and quite funny on other shows. He`s a nervous wreck and way out of his depth with this.  

His eyes look odd too. Has he had a lift?

They all seemed nervous last night.....Steve, the judges, the contestants. There seemed to be a lot of dead time, where no one was saying anything.

The rivalry between the judges seemed very fake too. It was allowed to build naturally (kinda ) on the British one...... now it seems much more forced. I think they're trying too hard to highlight the differences between XFactor and American Idol.

They need to relax!

I was disappointed too velvet.  It didn`t live up to expectations. 

The stage production is fantastic but the promise that was shown by some of the artists, didn`t happen. 

I suppose that`s what happens when you hit America. No creases allowed. 

Steve had lovely gentle eyes, now they look round and beady.  

Must say, there were a few acts that weren't as good as they were on the auditions and a couple of the acts seemed predictable and dated, and the judges 'banter' seemed contrived..  And I have to agree that I don't like Nicole Shitsinger as a judge: she is really fake contrived insincere and everything!  And patronising.  I think I would rather have had Chezza, and THAT is saying something: trust me!

However, I still love this show and think that it's 100 times better than the UK one...  I have followed it from the start, so am seriously loving it... each to their own though eh???     Which acts aren't as good now in your opinion Ducky?

I will deinately carry on watching it: because the acts are 1,000,000 times better than ours...  I could seriously stop watching the UK one quite happily, but everyone in my house watches it so its hard to avoid.

I wouldn't say it was an average show though...it's better than average: unlike ours which is basically majorly shit.  

Like I said, each to their own, but I think people who are not going to watch again, who only watched it once, are going to miss out on some cracking entertainment and some great talent.

Re: Steve Jones: not loving him that much, but he is no worse than that annoying nob Dermot, and  Simon HAS made some odd choices with judges too: Tulisa the orange faced talentless chav and Kelly, 'much less talented than Beyonce' Rowland, and gary boring Barlow are lame and ludicrous choices, and have made this years' UK X factor the WORST ever (with the help of the abysmal acts involved...)  Even Louis is useless, pointless and out of touch.

Velvet Donkey, On this thread from the other day, you were raving about how good it is and how bad ours is.... how come the show where the finalists are revealed made you dislike it suddenly?It seems a shame to dismiss it after not enjoying just one show, after liking it so much before...

I blame the weird sound at the judges houses. It made them sound like they were in a studio..... rather than outside. Twas weird.

Still loving Drew and the lad who's mum gave him two years to make it though!

I thought this first live show was decidedly dodgy....but it won't stop me watching. For undisclosed reasons.

I haven't watched the British one at all this year, so can't comment on the quality..... but I really do think that most of the American contestants aren't that much better vocally than people I've seen in the past on ours, but what they do tend to have is the confidence to perform (not just sing). So on balance I still prefer the American one.

For those interested, it's on from 8 til 10pm tonight on ITV2.  The results show is tomorrow evening.

I didn't get home till 8:40...so missed the start....then during the first adverts I did a bit of channel hopping (hate adverts), then within seconds completely forgot there was actually a point to me having the TV on, turned it off, did some school work.....and now I've only gone and missed the whole thing.

I'm taking this as a hint that I need some sleep. I'm off to bed.

Ducky, it is repeated at the weekend.  On ITV2 I think, in the morning.  Maybe Saturday or sunday .. I am just watching this on my skyplus as I was watching other stuff.  The acts are pretty amazing; there are a few that are only just above average, but the majority are really good.  Melanie Amaro singing Desperado and that Josh guy singing Jar of hearts.. All i can say is WOW!  And I LOVE that  Leroy guy, but why does every one of these talent shows always have to have bloody blasted westlife songs?!  

The girl group are a bit like Wilson philips and a bit dated, but they look good, the little 13 year old was pretty awful this week, and I think she may be in danger of going.  The little boy (astro) he is good   Stacey is amazing ; the 42 year old; I love her.    The results show is tonight, but as you missed the show and may not watch it til tomorrow, then you're probably best to not watch it, as the results show is repeated at the weekend too... just after the the main show.

I will find out what time everything is repeated, and post it on here soon... 

OK, so the performance show is on at 10.50am until 12.40pm tomorrow, (Saturday) and then directly after is the results show.  On ITV2.  Hope you catch it Ducky.

Hmmmmm, tough one this... I have thought she is good from the first time I saw her on the first show, but as the weeks have gone on, she seems to be getting slightly less good every week, - surely it should be the other way around...  And they dress her like a 40 year old librarian!     She is 13! 

The other young lass: DREW, now she is good and contemporary and dresses and presents herself like a teenage girl... 

If I had to pick any acts to go this week, it would be that group of 10 kids (too many for a group!) or Lakoda Rayne: I just find them a bit naff and cheezy, or that 13 year old.  Why can I not think of her name?!

He`s been tweeting it was a fix that he was in the bottom two. Blaming the show`s producers.

Rumour goes, he`s in trouble with LA (and the show) because of it.  

Astro should have gone.The minute he said he didn't want to sing they should have declared Stacey through to the next week.

Astro and Leroy out next week please! Leroy has a nice voice.... but he bores me a bit. I'll settle for Chris though if I have to. He's more exciting to watch than Leroy, but is it just me.....or can he just not sing that well? Definitely sneaked in on his sob story I reckon

Agree.  Astro has a terrible attitude, and it's no good anyone blaming his age imo..... As Simon says, he knows the rules...  IMO he isn't even that amazing.  He basically threw his toys out of his pram because he wasn't getting his own way...  FFS, it's the first time he was in the bottom 2....I didn't notice an attitude from Stacey, but she did seem very sulky when she was in the bottom 2... she was probably devastated though.. it's her last chance really.........

LOVING Melanie: she is amazing..  The best of the lot IMO.  Leroy is good but yes a little pedestrian... I actually find Lakoda rayne mind numbingly dull though  Wouldnt mind them going.

Anyone see it this week?    Just watched the results show...   What a spoilt BRAT Simon was!  The 3 other judges sent DREW home - HIS act, and he was like 'I'm not talking to you!' turning his head away, and refusing to speak to Steve Jones or say anything to the other judges or comment on Drew going.  What a prick.

He wanted marcus to go (LA Reid's boy) and if he had, Simom would have had THREE of the five acts left!  Grow up Simon: you can't have it your way all the time!

And Drew's stupid little face really annoyed me...: For about 15 minutes, (from when she found she was in the bottom two when she found she was going,)  she was like this...  It was like.. 'pleeeeeze don't send me home, look how upset I am.....'

What a whinebag.  Just goes to show the correct decision was made.  IMO, 14 year old Drew is too young and immature to handle this business.  Is she going to sulk and cry and put that 'bulldog chewing a wasp and crying at the same time' look when things don't go her way? If she is, she best find another career.

Glad to see the back of Drew.... She was just an American version of Janet.  Irritating little warbler.  And yes, she had a face like a sulking 2 year old.
