I really can't remember anyone saying anything different YR, there's no doubt he and his family have been through absolute hell. I think that some, including myself, get fed up with these stories being repeated week after week in an aim to get people to vote, it's supposed to be a singing/performing competition, not a 'who has had the most horrendous life' competition. Calling this tactic use of a 'sob story' is shorthand to describe that i.e

sob story
n.
1. A tale of personal hardship or misfortune intended to arouse pity.

Just observant Vids

If I'd have said that, i'd have been thrown off the forum by the females on here....so unfair.

What were you on about here Vids? You make loads of bitchy comments, as do we all on here..... I'd made comments previously re James needing work on his teeth, thought it was a shame that she had the same problem. Hopefully when he wins he'll have the spondoolies to get them sorted, for him and his sis

and that's the annoying bit.... nobody with a half heart could fail to feel compassion for him or anyone else who's been through that.  I've said before though - I think it's poor form to use it as vote catcher (and I know it's the producers who will push it rather than the performers)  I've said before I think it cheapens what they've gone through.   FFS - they were even using religion to get votes last night - I half expected Louis to say 'i want all the Christians in all the churches in Britain to vote for you!'    No doubt it might bring hope to others in his situation - but the time for that is after the competition.

I know what you mean.... it's that bloomin' singing bit isn't it?

The remote is with me at all times ready for emergency action   I never watch the start of the show, can't stand the opening  when all the judges walk on to the stage to dramatic music, flashing lights everywhere and a screaming hysterical audience, they're not the second coming lol .

I'm glad it's the last one tonight, haven't really enjoyed it this year, I'm not really bothered who wins, one will get the title but both will get contracts, so win win for both of them, and within a week I'll have forgotten them all

Bring on Rihanna and Emeli Sande

You said that you were going to support James now...don't forget

I want him to win over Jahmene.        Just so long as you don't confuse that with actually liking him.

Tell the truth, it's 'cos he sings Motown.

Well I wouldn't go that far, Yogi!  I give him credit for having good taste in music, but I really do struggle with some of these Motown homages from the contestants in general.

I actually think he's enjoying himself and expects nothing, whereas James thinks he's the dogs doodah's.  All that moody posing and angsty look to the camera grates on my pips.

No I don't think so. They are the Beverly sisters Joy. Teddie and Babs.

Oh don't confuse me!

no.. on balance, his whiney voice and scary hair is enough for me to want James to beat him.   Besides - I can't wait to see James handles proper 'fame'

Ha!  You mean proper fame as in meeting Frankie down the dark corridors of a recording studio?  I'd pay to watch it

(Frankie to win by a TKO in the 1st)

I still think lego hair is less frightening than gammy looking, but that's just me
