Well here in the SE I only heard a couple of rumbles - but I don't really like it!
My Uncle has been struck my lightening a couple of times - he's still around now tho
I always remember those poor tourists in London who got killed by sheltering under a tree in a park in London in a storm
I flew through a thunderstorm coming back from S.Africa...i thought about writing a quick 'will' there and then.
I've flown through a storm before .....very scary.
We had the same storm here in Lincoln, Sooz - couldn't sleep for ages - thought it had gone away and then it returned - and I heard it for a while around 6 am here too

My sons just been round - he lives in the same village - apparently two houses were struck last night just around the corner to him. I knew it was close .............................very spectacular - we're not too far from Lincoln.
Eeeek - that's too close for comfort, only a few mile from Lincoln myself.
I know of a village not too far from me where the same house has been struck by lightning twice in previous storms, but that was several years back now.
Whenever we get a storm it always seems to be accompanied by a power cut too.

That's often the case here ....we were OK last night though.
Well we apparently had one hell of a storm here in the Black Country last night! I was slightly inebriated due to yesterday being my wedding anniversary (5 years) and we went out last night to celebrate, so when my neighbour told me earlier on if I had heard it, I was surprised to say the least!
I really do not like storms at all, my mum used to tell me not to be silly as they wouldn't hurt me, but I hate the noise from the thunder and the lightening just terrifies me, so I'm glad I was out cold last night.

See, I said lightening was bad lol. I was also on a long night time flight when we hit a thunderstorm, for me being storm phobic it was extremely scary. The night sky lit up so brightly we could see daylight above it, well blue skies and light as we know it. At the time I was in absolute agony from an ear infection by stupidly flying with a very heavy head cold I picked up in Canada's feezing conditions on a 2 day stopover, Never fly with a heavy cold it can burst your ear drums as happened to me I actually didn't know what was worse for me at some point, the agony I was in, the lightening, or the turbulence as the plane soared and dived. Basically a nightmare journey where I ended up with ears bleeding and having to seek medical help when thankfully we landed safely eventually. Don't understand why some love storms lol
The storm in nottingham was brilliant, the university had a summer party going on with NDubz performing haha.
I also had to explain to my housemate that thunder and lightening are the same thing.

My husband was an electrician, he used to say if you where in the car it was the conductive metal frame that saved you rather than the rubber tyres, and if the lightning hit a utility pole near your home the lightning could travel down to your phone line.(frightening).
I love thunderstorms and I've flown through one, too. Everyone else was white around the eyes and gripping the seat in front with white knuckles, while I cackled like a maniac
On the local news this afternoon (nottingham) they showed people gardens... they had been demolished one even had a before picture, a nice garden turned to a pile of rubble.
