You and me both marm. I'm as riled now as I was in the late 70s (Thatcher election obvs). The poorest are taking the biggest hit and the NHS is being disassembled. Meanwhile, the banks are given a small slap on the wrist and politely asked to ensure they have better stocks of cash before they start lending it out to small businesses. I think one of the big problems is that there has been no viable governmental alternative offered so all we can do is defer to the inevitable rubbish that we're being fed. The opposition is quite happy to see this play out so badly. They're politicians and they also don't care. 

that's so true Xochi, I have been so let down by the demise of the labour party, although in my heart I believe they would not have inflicted this on the poorest in society... no wonder there is apathy at the polling stations. I signed it yesterday via FB  - I also signed the one that says this government should face corporate manslaughter for those people who according to ATOS are LTBs = lying thieving barstewards - who have died as a result of those new ESA medicals that are virtually impossible to pass and have died.  We're not talking about people swinging the lead here, these are cancer patients found fit to work while undertaking chemotherapy or have had heart attacks as a result of the stress of this imo unfair assessmen - it lies a quite a few thousand now 

I'd love to see IDS in the dock for this along with the Labour eejits who employed ATOS in the first place.

If IDS is going to live on £53 a week then it can only be private landlord furnished 1 bedroom..local housing allowance will allow that.. if council then he will need his own furniture and he cannot take from his luxury place although he may apply for charity furniture as he cannot get a crisis loan any more... furnished council homes are few and far between and for homeless people so he cannot get one. there are very very few 1 bedroom council flats so a 2 bed is more likely to be offered.. that means £14 or more a week of his benefit must be used for his rent.. housing estates mean more chance of key meters.. so he will need money to top up.. if he is lucky enough to get a tv from someone from freeshare/freecycle he needs to pay tv license.. not forgetting he needs to pay atleast 30% of his council tax.. now... whats the bet he will die of starvation in a week.

I didn't see the one about Atos Pengy...but I agree with you  it's been Davey boys spin for years to pin the the unemployed and disabled as bone idle shirkers...not only does this seem to have worked, they are stripping every shred of dignity away from people in dreadful situations. Food banks are seeing massive rises in people needing food, what kind of society have we turned into

Oh, right I just saw how much he earns for one day,£1,581! Obscene.. How dare he patronise people like he does?!

I think most people would agree that there needs to but cuts San, but its the poorest in society carrying the burden, whilst the top 10 percent were handed a tax cut  The bedroom tax is a farce, it's not going to save a penny, just push more into poverty. Most of the welfare bill goes towards working people on low wages, not the disabled or unemployed. 

The aim of these welfare cuts are to turn the low paid against anyone on benefits by branding them as scroungers.  The majority of the low paid are being seduced into believing that this will in turn free up more money for them.  Wrong!  Many sick and disabled people are being denied this new ESA on the most spurious of reasons.  That puts them in the work force trying to get jobs - the same jobs as low paid people until they die and solve one problem for the ConDems.  Benefits are perceived to be going up all the time but these low paid workers are too short-sighted to see that benefits rise very slowly but their wages are stagnant or are being cut.  That's not the fault of people who receive benefits, that's the fault of employers who either can't pay decent wages or won't pay above minimum wage.

What do they think will happen when everyone sick or well are all vying for the same jobs?  If they can't get a job, they will need benefits and will in turn become one of the benefit scroungers this government have led them to despise.  Meanwhile those middle income earners will turn on the low paid workers and those higher bracketed earners will sit back and laugh while the rest of society pulls itself apart and our government will go off with their gold plated pensions to a European job, laughing all the way as they've screwed so much money out of everyone.  Doubt they'll put their savings in a bank though - it'll be in an offshore account
