We've all done it hun, sat through the crap just to show willing for the kids - if you can reschedule your work I'd say then do so.

I can't be bothered to lie. I'll just tell the truth. There'll be no sympathy though - it's been overkill with my childcare situation in the last few months, so I think sympathy wears a little thin after a while

After I got screwed over by my employers this week one of my collegues reminded me that there are times in life where you gotta just think f**k it. You got two choices, upset your lovely daughter or upset a couple of moaning so and sos at work. They will get over it and find something else to moan about by dinner.
