'Of' is not a verb! (I discovered that all by myself from Cariad )
You know I have that here as a sig...but sigs don't show. **rolls eyes**

And btw madam...tis Merthyr Tydfil not Tydvil. No "v" in Welsh. the letter "f" is pronounced "v". If you want an "f" sound it's "ff". Confused...?    It can get worse...we don't have a letter "x" either. So in Welsh taxi is spelled tacsi. My son is called Macsen - but on a day to day basis we call him Max and spell it that way because it's too much of a pain in the arse to correct.

Now then - who's up for pronouncing Ynysybwl?

I called my OH a pendant once meaning pedant. He still laughs..
mine OH is a git for pulling me up (publicly) & never letting me forget stuff like that.

Like the time on our honeymoon when I called the boat a catermerangue ... not only did he pull me up and point and laugh at me there & then in front of people... he then shouted across to the other group of people "Catermerangue... she thinks its a boat ontop of cake!"

NO how can you compare a classy reality programme, to a script written tragedy? Peter you should be ashamed of yourself hmph
I can't let Peter take the flak, twas me that said it.  Actually Gel I'm sort of with you, the only soap I follow is The Archers (gosh, you're really getting my demographic now, aren't you )  But I have to confess that for some reason I find BB compelling

That Wyndmomhahdman thing just takes the piss. If it's pronounced Windham, then spell it like that FFS. Whoever made that up was just being anal for no reason!

Are we going to row all night?
You know full well that place names have long and complicated histories. For example, when Edward I's wife died he was so grief-stricken he had her body carried in state across England back to London for burial. At each overnight stop he decreed a large cross be built in her memory. The Eleanor Crosses have given us Waltham Cross and Charing Cross. Charing from chere rein" = dear queen. OK...I'm arguing your point here  but historically we have Mainwaring pronounced Mannering and Bevoir pronounced Beaver (a LOT more scope for comedy there quite clearly...) It's the way English has evolved and continues to evolve. If it was that easy to speak most people on the planet would have a grasp of it. We can't make it THAT easy...
