I would like to join this nice new club and I must say that my mum was the worst. We would learn words from her and venture out into the world only to get fingers pointed at us and laughed at. Some of her words were drownDED instead of drowned. As in I got drownded wet. You used to black treacle in cakes but she taught us to say trinkle instead and also the stuff you put over roofs was not tarpaulin but tarpolion. We had a funny childhood

Years ago when my dad hurt his foot at work and had to write a report, he used 'swolling' foot instead of swollen. It was the source of merriment for a good long while after Thing is, he didn't realise he'd said anything wrong
