its not so much mispronounciations that get on my nerves... it's the constant use of American terms that P me off
It's not "movies" it's films, it's not autopsy its post mortem etc etc.....and the next person who uses "tad" in front of me is soooo going to get it

Most of you lot have already listed what irritates me. But here is one that grates on me: Someone writes something on a message forum that they agree with, and they reply with 'here here!' It's 'HEAR, HEAR!' not 'here here'!
Also, I get irritated with 'I would of done that,' when it should be 'I would HAVE done that,' people saying PACIFIC instead of SPECIFIC, and Textes, instead of TEXTS. And saying 'ARKSK,' instead of ASK, gets on my nerves.
Also get annoyed with people writing 'I no what you mean,' instead of 'I KNOW that you mean!' Is it that hard to spell KNOW correctly?
And when people write 'I am loosing my temper' instead of LOSING my temper. ARRRGHH!
What is wrong with these people? Are they genuinely very poor at the English language, or is it laziness or what? Whatever it is, it's annoying.
So that is my twopennyworth. I am sure there are more! Keep 'em coming folks. Glad to see there are many more people that get irritated by bad grammar and bad spelling. Yes, we all make the odd error, and no I am not 'little miss perfect,' but when bad spelling and bad grammar is continual; it's just annoying.
Plus, I HATE HATE HATE 'txt spk' on message forums. I don't even like it on texts!
Aye Storm, it takes me ages to send a text, I put all the full stops and hyphens in too.
Me too and all my friends laugh at me for writing it properly. Saying that, I don't mind the odd 'lol' or 'pmsl' on forums, but please... not stuff like 'gr8' and 'how r u luv'
oooh yes pleasequote:Originally posted by Supercalifragilistic:

Lol, "The 'OF OFF' Club"
That's two clubs- the of/have and the of/off..but we could amalgamate LOL
Slaps own hand, 'cos thinks most people just don't know (education and all that)
Surely you can't be considering "The 'Have it Off' Club"

I have two things I'd like to add to this:
1. When people say "will you learn me that" instead of "will you TEACH me that"...think I heard one of the plebs in BB say it the other night...and...
2. When people say more that 100%, i.e. 200%, when PER CENT means "out of one hundred", it makes no sense and gets on my nerves. Sree said something like 105% per cent the other day...I can't stand that "little man" so anything he says grates on me....

If Pip thinks that is wrong then I too have been saying it wrongly for years.
What IS the acceptable pronunciation, Pip?
Add me to the should of club too please - "off of" irritates me too when "off" on its own will suffice. And don't get me started on apostrophes!!

I don't know if it's just the nature of song-recording, but it really annoys me when singers cut off the "l" in "control" a la "The Boy Does Nothing"

Great sig onetoo, may have to do the same!
Trying to remember who it is with the 'of is not a verb' sig? Think they should rightly be the founder member, not me. Should we be starting a new thread? Worried we may have hijacked Rawky-Roos?

Cariad I think wasn't it?
May be an idea
Some people say chimley instead of chimney and lickle instead of little but I find that quite cute.
Oooh don't get me started on this topic! I HATE it when people pronounce schedule the American way as sked-ule instead of shed-ule.
