Mackerel sandwiches? I wouldn't want to share a blacked out transit with anyone eating those.

 

No Rog, just the sandwiches and a diet coke. 

 

 

Funnily enough, my colleagues share the same opinion. 

 

 

I enjoyed Wolf Hall yesterday.

 

Some of that dialogue/character interaction had me glued to the tellybox.

Standing with hubby at the fish counter in Morrisons yesterday, I mentioned your mackerel sandwiches. Hubby said he'd enjoy them too!

 

Peppered and grilled are delicious.

Well, the day started dry but it's now raining. I think I should have shopped earlier 

I hope your day is going well, despite the pesky housework  

Politics is like a virus Joe. It's mutates all over the place 

I hadn't realised that he had been married to K of A for much much longer than all the others put together!!

 

I packed in the housework around lunchtime and went out in the rain for a walk and a coffee. 

 

So I guess it went well.

Anton Lesser's acting puts everyone in the shade bar mark rylance perhaps

 

I think I will be purchasing this when it's released.

 

 

Another cracking episode this week.  Really looking forward to the final episode next Wednesday but, at the same time, don't want it to end.

 

I agree about the acting performances.  Last week was a tour de force from Anton Lesser.   Although I'm not a fan of Thomas More, I really felt for him when they took his books away from him.  And the scenes in the Tower with him and Cromwell were among the best bits of acting I've ever seen on the telly.

 

I will really miss it when it's finished (and Mark Rylance's eyebrows deserve a BAFTA of their own)

 

 

 

I was a bit taken aback by the "C-Bomb", which I just heard on Gogglebox. 

 

I might have to watch the whole thing beginning to end on iPlayer even though I have seen most of it (apart from toilet breaks). 

 

 

Apparently the C word wasn't considered as rude in the olden days. Or so a commenter said on The Guardian blog 

Yes, it still has the power to shock.  Apparently it wasn't considered that much of a swear word in Tudor times and I've read somewhere that there were streets with the C word in the name, usually preceded by the word 'Grope' and followed by 'Lane'.  These street names were changed later to 'Love Lane' etc!

I couldn't quote in EC's CD post but agree that the music has been fab.

I saw the composer interviewed on The One Show and I thought, yes, I would like that CD.

I thought that people might be interested to know that at 10.00 on Wednesday (following the final episode) BBC 4 are showing a programme "Wolf Hall - the Inside Story", with Hilary Mantel, Mark Rylance and Peter Kosminsky.  It was filmed in the Tower of London and looks as though it should be good viewing

I was always aware that the language back then was rather 'ripe' and I'm surprised that there hasn't been more in the programme - for authenticity if nothing else.  I'd love to hear more of Norfolk cursing and a-cussing especially as Bernard Hill looks like he's made for the role  

 

One of my (now deceased) aunts lived in Love Lane.  I'd liked to have told her the origins of that!
