I'd prefer an explanation of why you choose to do maintenance at the busiest time to be honest.

I assume the system failure was related.
But this forum is run from the USA, so surely with the 8 hour time difference, the maintenance WAS planned for a relatively quiet time - early Friday afternoon US time? Surely no-one expects people who run a website on another continent to plan their maintenance needs around a TV show in the UK? Big Grin

this site isn't often down sunny.just bad timing made it more noticeable last night.
why can't you get into livecloud? if you are here, which you are, it means you are already registered at livecloud, don't try to get in by the link on the top right of this page, go to https://www.hoo.do.

I think Live Cloud was down completely yesterday evening. When I clicked on the link that I had bookmarked it even told me the site didn't exist Eeker

But if their busiest time is because most of their clients are UK-based then surely they should take that into account? The maintenance happening two hours later or on a Monday morning would have not caused anywhere near the disruption levels and antagonism that it caused.

The system failure in my opinion was almost certain to be caused by the maintenance and so saying that they couldn't predict the failure, whilst technically true, is still a little trite considering when they chose to perform the site maintenance.

Also, performing the site maintenance when the forum is at it's busiest is asking for problems as well. It would have benefitted them as much as us had they chosen a different time to do this.

I would like to add that I understand WHY you needed to perform the maintenance and I am grateful for the site and that it is a free resource BUT I do think that it could have been more thought-out because customers, as I am sure you understand, are what keeps these things going and that kind of thing is the kind of thing that puts customers off.

Well that depends on whether there are any American FMs using the site...haven't seen them yet so as far as i'm concerned they are just rumours at the momentBig Grin

In fact I would like to know if we were here first, looking at the gagajoy twitter site last night it seemed to imply that we were....I'd be happy to be put right if this is not the case.

Whatever the case, it does seem that the needs of the UK BB viewers are not paramount in their planning schedules Shake Head and as we are the biggest UK viewing group here, I can assume that it might be that the UK members are less important altogether, or we are just handy to keep the site active until the important people arrive.

Whatever, I think it's an almighty cock up...It's like joining an Usain Bolt appreciation site only to find out they schedule maintenance for the same time as the 100 metres final Crazy

I don't think we are ........ but I'd love it if we were .... I'd love the format to stay exactly the same as it is now ..... but I was under the impression it would look like the Live Cloud forums, once we were there Confused

Are we there yet ? ... anyone know for sure ? Ninja

From what I've seen, the mods here don't work 24 hours - presumably they work something like normal days. If they had carried out the maintenance a couple of hours later, wouldn't that have meant the mods working on a Friday evening? Monday morning maintenance would have meant them working during the night on Sunday. Would you do that for a group of strangers on the other side of the world? Particularly when Gaga have bent over backwards to provide a temporary home for us, and have had loads of grief from some people in return. I wonder whether the mods even realised that Friday afternoon their time would be Big Brother eviction time in the UK - I suspect they might have had other priorities. Big Grin

It was much longer than an hour!! I stayed up till fairly late but couldn't stay up too late as got a young child getting up at sparrows fart so I haven't been able to discuss Bea's eviction yet and no doubt if I start a thread now about anything some wise arse will tell me its already been discussed like always...

I meant Monday morning their time Smiler The point I was trying to make was that they could have chosen almost any other time in the week and the site would have been a lot quieter and it would have been better all round. But I do take the point about them having to work Friday evening if they took it down a couple of hours later.

Firstly, I'd like to think that we're not strangers any more.

I have been involved in the running of a website with an international user base and we always tried to do what was right for everybody! I have absolutely no doubt that we would have taken this into consideration.

I don't think they have had nothing but grief in return and I'm a bit more cynical - they bent over backwards because there was, just sitting there to be plucked, a great big forum of regulars looking for a new home. How many of us are there? 200 - 300 - which is a busy forum by anyone's standards. It takes time and hard work to build a forum up normally but we just fell into their laps! We are not just strangers. We are customers - and when LiveCloud becomes our main home hopefully $39 paying customers.

The mods are not on here 24/7 but they are on here enough to understand the rhythms of the forum and I still maintain that they should have known what was approaching.

Now, if they come back to us and say that's the only slot that their server providers said they could have then that's fair enough and out of their control but otherwise I think we have a right to feel a little peeved.

It's a public forum Nod ..... start what you like Nod .... if others don't like your thread, they need not enter .... simple as, imo Smiler
But we all know that people will go into a thread sometimes just to be annoyong or negative (god I hate that N word now thanks to Bea Roll Eyes )

Thing is the eviction is so last night lol - I can't think what I want to discuss now Laugh Disappointed

I've not read the whole thread but there does appear to be quite a lot of negative comments. I think that is being very ungrateful to the people who took us in when Channel 4 just closed down their site and threw us out.

I, for one, am very grateful to still have somewhere to come and post. Okay it was annoying that it happened at the time it did but sometimes these things happen.

Just be grateful for what we've got!!

I`m as disappointed about last night as everybody else but because it was a system failure there`s not much more to say imo.

I read somewhere that we are moving over to Livecloud on 4th Spetember, the final night of BB, is this true?

If it is, I`m a bit concerned. I would rather spend the final night here, where we know the site, rather than struggling on a new site on the most important night of BB.

Does anyone know for sure?

I really hope not .......it would be nice to wind it all up on here ..............hey ho - beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

My fear is that we'll lose even more FM@s in the changeover ..............we are already depleted from the last move.
