Monica Puig powered her way to the win but it was a much harder match than her shock victory against Errani on Monday. Still, she’s into R3 at her first Wimbledon – having also made R3 at her first French open just a few weeks ago.

As darkness descended over Wimbledon on Friday evening and play was suspended Puig closed 4-6 1-2 and in serious trouble against Czech doubles specialist Eva Birnerova - a player ranked well outside the top 100 in singles.

Puig resumed on Saturday afternoon and seemingly launched a desicive comeback:

Won my match 4-6 6-3 6-4! So happy to be in the 4th round and the second week of !!!

So the last 16 at Wimbldon awaits and maybe a debut appearance on a "show court".

Although Laura Robson has a slightly higher world ranking (38) than her opponent Kaia Kanepi (46), Kanepi's real ranking is considerably better. She was out of action for many months last year and the beginning of this year missing last year's Wimbledon & US Open, and this year's Australian Open. She has got to 3 Grand Slam finals in the previous 2 years and would normally have been one of the seeded players.

Ferrer v Dodig now.

It started off looking like a stroll for Ferrer, but Dodig seems to have stepped it up and hasn't dropped a game despite one of his service games going to 5 deuces - he then served 2 aces. So it's gone to a tie-break.

Dodig gets 2 mini- breaks, then Ferrer gets one back, but Dodig breaks again and now Dodig is serving for the set.

And he takes it without too much trouble.

Dodig leads by 1 set to love.

1 - 1 in the 2nd set.
