I don't either but at this point in time, if that's what's best for them.....

agree - difficult one as they are such big creatures who sort of belong in the wildbut safer in the zoo I suppose

yes
I don't like to see any animal in captivity but if this is better than being in the state some of them are, free, well then I'll go with it

Iβm not convinced that a zoo is the best place for them, even now

I think with polar bears, you can't recreate their environment in a zoo properly, unlike most of the other animals...that's one of the problems I have with polar bears in zoos

I agree, their natural habitat will never be able to be recreated but most zoos will always do the best they can for the animal. It's the ones that don't that need to be rooted out

True ...I guess it depends on whether they are born there ...in which case they probably wouldnβt know much difference .
Rocking Ros Rose posted:yes they were grim - dammeeeee
sorted Ros, they are on the get rid quick list

yes agree with this - its hard to create a tundra and the amount of ice /snow they are used to - and they are such huge animals as well making the environment even harder to create
Sprout posted:I agree, their natural habitat will never be able to be recreated but most zoos will always do the best they can for the animal. It's the ones that don't that need to be rooted out
but most of the animals live in near enough natural habitats in zoos, I will never be convinced with polar bears Pam
omg they are horrible
Baz posted:I wonder why they are called hellbenders

they swim miles and travel many miles, impossible to do in zoos and I wonder if they hibernate properly

So what about lions and tigers? Can their environment be recreated? Given that they are natural hunters

yes that's a good point dammeee
I hope this works out for Tundra
