I lost my passport in st Moritz .....it was finally returned to me about 3/4 months later via Swiss police

Had you replaced it by the time it was returned to you?

Yes, it was only a yearly one .....thing is I was 3 months pregnant at the time ....we had been skiing in Italy ....went on a day trip to,St Moritz .....and all I had to get through all the various customs posts on the way home  ....Italy , Switzerland , Germany , etc was a letter from the Italian police ....I had visions of my baby being stateless

When our safe was stolen off the wall in a villa in Lanzarote with all our money, travellers cheques and passports inside, we were given one of those police letters. Fortunately, before we had to go home, a dog walker found the safe with the travellers cheques and passports still inside

Yes, very lucky. The robbers were only interested in the cash and mobile phones.

Even luckier, my eldest son had taken the engagement ring to propose to my now DiL and he’d wrapped the ring box in a crappy carrier bag so she wouldn’t realise what was inside - the robbers took the carrier bag out of the drawer and threw it to one side, not realising the ring was in the bag.
