What do you mean YR?
Just a personal opinion Xochi but overtime I've noticed this a good Forum for laughs/humour in talking about some subjects. It's also good when anyone is going through a real bad time and really needs support or advice. The threads that seem to struggle, or go off course, or become inflammatory, are the ones when someone wants to discuss something more of a serious debate. For the OP's sake I just wish  that those who take part could discuss it in a mature way without becoming either personal or blatantly argumentative or derisory.

See what i mean about the poster above We need to make this place a friendly society for chats and laughs---but there is always someone out to make trouble Wish LC would make me a Mod. The Chaff would certainly be outed. -- Nice one night -- offensive the next We all know now who to trust and chat to on here without fear of who to trust.
With respect it's not as black and white as that I'm afraid.

chamer.
a) don't know who she is.
b) it could be conceivable we're not racists here.
c) so also we mostly are pc because we chose to inform ourselves before we say something that may be considered inflammatory.
d) we allow people to air their views and then discuss it if we are informed enough about the subject.
e) so why do you give a damn?

Charmer, I dont know who or what's got your goat, but as Xochi said, with each forum comes different experiences and opinions. That's what makes places interesting. If we all agreed and held hands and sung ring a ring roses every day it would be boring. I like debate and difference of opinion, sometimes something you thought was right can turn out to be wrong and vice versa, so occasionally it can be educational too. I think the reason people ask for a source is when someone is stating something with dead certainty (usually when it's a controversial topic) but has no facts to back up their statement. There's a difference in offering an opinion and stating fact.

Chill your boots, get some sleep and come back tomorrow. Although there are 2 things on my mind:

1) I think the immigration in this country is out of control

and

2) What curry house would let you wine and dine your missus at this time of night??

And thanks for your comment YR. I agree... but naturally the posts that are going to become antagonistic are the ones where opinions are probably polarised anyway. There is still no harm having a point of view.

A lot of people are hopefully open to another point of view as we can all learn something at times from an opposing view, often it's the way it's expressed that causes the problem

Exactly. As long as they agree with me.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone disagree with you Blizzie  and quite right so lol

Sometimes Yellow Rose I think the sentiment can be misinterpreted because we don't all have a good way with words and expressing ourselves.

I was only joking. People have disagreed with me, plenty, but it is mostly down to how it's worded sometimes. It's harder to get cross with peeps, once you know them quite well and like them!
I wasn't joking though lol as I've never seen anyone disagreeing with you, you're so loved and appreciated here    I agree it's all in the wording, you use few words, which is an art imo, but get across so much in that brief time lol, you're brill

Aww, thank you.

But seriously, I can be aggravating, to some!

And I did join the forum to argue about BB housemates, in the first place!

Charmer Get a fekkin grip mate What has got into you tonight?? Unlike you reading your past posts If sommat has upset you-- take a step back and think about it ... Tonights outbreak by you is out of the norm for you. Calm down and talk about it... If somats upset you tell us and we will try to resolve this.
With respect...Charmers expressed a problem with some of the postings on the forum and he gets this in response.  You know what's upset him, he's just told you in his posts!

I don't know who Danj is...but Crossy is lovely and I don't find he'll beat you down with stats, I find he's always up for a decent conversation.

But I do think Charmer has a point.  Blatant prejudice of any kind shouldn't be tolerated, but being afraid to say what you want is an issue   Too much time institutionalised by C4 me thinks

As usual, this makes no sense. I suspect that I have missed whatever has sparked this off.
I've always found the forum to be a place of differing and (mostly) interesting views, I don't agree with some of them but either argue my corner or don't bother with whichever thread it is.
Robust debate I can deal with, The nastiness and personal attacks are what I object to.
As for Deej and Crossy, I can only say that I have never found them to be anything other than friendly and respectful when involved in debates no matter how contentious (sp)
