and then knocking 'em down..with a vengence?

we do it with everyone-princess Diana, spice girls() loads more..the latest victim is SCD..mis-teeq bird
what a shame!
she's on a telly programme FFS..and the backlash she's getting is stupid, i know she replaced that arlene..but a couple of months ago, aleshya (sp) could do no wrong
she was the 'wronged' woman cos her fella ran off with javine-she became popular cos of SCD, the media loved her-now theyre taking great joy in tearing her apart!
why does the media do it?

i remember Princess Diana saying she was thinking of settling in USA cos the media dont do that sorta crap

i think its bang out of order..or am i on my own..?

Meh. She'll still raise her profile and make a few quid. Sorry, but celebs and marrying into Royalty is a chosen lifestyle. You dont have to be high profile if you dont want to.
i agree,
but im just wondering why the press in this country see it as a national sport to build em up and then grind 'em into the ground
i know its about selling papers/mags but it just seems odd-not many other countries do it-but we're brilliant at it

Yes I agree.  It seems to be human nature to build people up and knock 'em down or revel in peoples' miseries and knock-downs!  Some times I don't like to see people have bad things happen, like it makes me cringe when someone drops from ÂĢ16K to ÂĢ1 in 'millionaire,' but when someone loses 3 or 4 stone and then gains in all back, like Natalie Cassidy and my next door neighbour did, I can't help but feel slightly amused by it.  Dunno why, maybe because some people are so full of themselves and they become the most heinous diet-bores all the time they're on their diet.

I think Aleesha was a bit silly to take the job once she realised what a hoo hah it was going to cause.  I think if she had said no Arlene will be better than me she would have had immense respect from us all.  I am not a fan of Arlene (and I really like Aleesha and thought she was fantastic when she won) but when you keep Brucie and Len and ditch Arlene I'm sorry that's sexism.

But even if she had done that they would have offered it to someone else anyway. (Probably Darcy Bussell or summat who in all fairness is probably better qualified). Arlene fell out with the BBC and they had no intention of reinstating her.
I would have done what Aleisha did and took the job. What's she likely to be getting paid? 60 -70k? Plus I think the Beeb are trying to do a Cheryl Cole on her aswell.

I agree about Alesha, she needs to be given more of a chance to give her insights. But in general, most of the people that the press hassle have got a little above their station, let their egos run riot, and forgotten about all those umpteen calls to the press and picture desks that they (or their) representatives have made to get them in the papers. (And that includes Diana.....)
I think Brits prefer humility and grace, to swagger and bravado.
