Because they are always filled with various tracks covering many different genres to appeal to the masses. Also they are usually filled with the most obvious choices and cheesy rubbish that has been caned on the radio for months/years.

Take all the so called "oldskool" cd's. They are all the same, all using the same tracks mixed in different ways, when there were hundreds of thousands of tracks to choose from. They just go for the obvious.

My advice to you mate is to name what style of dance you prefer and then I can sort you out some mixes or show you the sites where you can download them from. If you just like the obvious stuff then that's fine also as there are plenty of dj's that cater for the more commercial side of various styles of dance/electronic music.

Anyway..who buys music these days....

people still buy CDs?

I used to buy dance albums every week years ago.
My daughter ended up with most of them.

Oooooooh there are actually some good tracks spread over all 3 cd's as it goes.

Well you like late 90's to early 2000 trance by the looks of it. So you would definitely like mixes from that era by DJ Tiesto, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Matt Hardwick and possibly Sasha, although Sasha may be a tad slow and deep at times, but you will want Gatecrasher and Gods Kitchen style sets by those dj's I reckon.

If you have soulseek you are sorted, if not then I will upload some mixes to a site and you can download them direct when I get you the link. Give me a few days to sort it

In the meantime there are plenty of sites that do "Essential Selection" mixes. The 2 hour show with prerecorded studio mixes on Radio 1 on Staurday nights. I will try to find a couple for you

I still buy (and sell) RECORDS!!! I use cd's in the car and mp3's at home, but when I dj I still only use RECORDS. I refuse to mix with cd's or even worse (shudder) mp3's and a laptop. To me it would be like watching The Foo Fighters come on stage with an x-box and play a set with Guitar Hero.

Off the top of my head I can think of 5 or 6 sets that would suit a treat but I don't have them on my lappy only on my PC and I can't access it atm.

A lot of stuff, especially Sasha's stuff is very slow building and takes time to get in to the track.

For albums you might like to try BT ~ IMA (truly beautiful, but from 1995) Sasha ~ Ibiza on Global Underground and also Sasha and Digweed Renaissance Especially CD1. They are all stunning works of art imho. But more easy listening. Still upbeat, but a more intelligent style of trance, more to it if you get what I mean.

Bought loads of ibiza and minstry of sound albums.
