lol

It isn't real life it's a TV show. And in the DR he isn't looking at a person he is just looking at a camera and listening to a disembodied voice.

When was that, LMS?
Been out all day so haven't looked far down the list of threads.

*dashes off to look for LMS message*

I'd feel awkward too talking to a camera, I think he's trying to hide his body language and an awful lot can be said by the eyes. But as said before he does make eye contact with people. I think it's a lot to do with self confidence also, which is why he's always swearing and non-conforming. He knows he's not gods gift and so makes up for it in other ways.

I clearly remember how Marcus had to hide his face under his duvet when he was talking to Noirin.

He is very childlike in that a child thinks if he can't see you then you can't see him.

Nearly every housemate over the years sits on the chair facing the camera/BB, whereas Marcus sits and looks away from BB.

He always looks so disinterested
Because if he looked BB/the camera/us in the eye while delivering his diatribes he wouldn't be able to keep a straight face. Big Grin Laugh

Well sometimes people do want some privacy on BB, as there is so little of it there. Freddie put that scarf over his eyes didn't he, I suppose that was hiding himself too? You can't hide yourself 24/7 on BB, and Marcus hasn't tried to. He has gone through more in that house than probably any HM remaining.

I doubt very much Marcus is shy, not the way he talks and acts he is very crude.

Totally OHG, I honestly think he's full of bravado because he is shy. Don't know why peeps can't see that.

Well yeh there is that. Big Grin

I think Marcus would find it absolutely hilarious how seriously people take some of the things he has said and the attitude he has had in the DR for example. All the time he talks about giving something to the show and trying to make it more interesting and yet some of the audience still can't differentiate between the IDH persona and the real human being beneath. Maybe he will see it as some kind of triumph over his detractors. Big Grin

Agree Nod

See thats where we differ, cause if I was having a conversation with someone and they couldnt look ME in the eye MY first thought would be "he/she must be a bit shy" and NOT think them rude or untrustworthy, or sly, Nod

I think Marcus has a problem with authority of any kind and this is his way of showing his insubordination. His body language in the diary room shouts this out. And he does not maintain eye contact with his fellow HMs as he usually lies on his bed talking over to them or sideways on when talking to them in the living room.

But Marcus is also shy and lacks self-confidence. I agree with OHG, Marcus has a huge kind heart under that tough insubordinate exterior. A kind heart cancels out all other behaviours imo.

yeah OHG, it took me a while to realise it but he is one of the most genuinely kind HMs this year. I find Marcus fascinating now, and I much prefer him to the prancing-around-for-attention crew. Yes he is crude in his language sometimes, but he is different and interesting. The kind heart does it for me though, but he bluddy hates authority I tell ya. Laugh

My adult daughter who is badly autistic NEVER looks anyone in the eye when talking but she is one of the most honest and truthful people going. She's certainly not rude either.
