I don't think it is about respecting or disrespecting MJ, I think it is about respecting or disrespecting each other.

I don't respect MJ but i respect those who do and are grief striken at his passing.

Those demanding the people who really couldn't care one way or another respect MJ are being more disrespectful of those that don't really care far more than anyone is disrespecting MJ

the thing is iam really not concerned at all....it is very sad a young family have lost there father and a mother has lost her son.....that is the extent of my sympathy i do not think thousands in yet another griefporn show is what is needed to show respect in fact is it more disrespecful to be wailing profesing your/their grief greater than that of the family?......a sense of proportion should be kept maybe the family would prefer not to see such a circus

Fair point j0anne. However, considering his parents (especially his father) encouraged him to pursue his career in music, the "circus" became part-and-parcel...so it's hardly anything they (the family) cannot handle IMO.
And if that be the case, they're about 40+ years too late to be too alarmed by "the circus".

True. But that also applies to no-one signing up to being born, or the family we're born into..c'est la vie.

I'm with you Veggie..and had my knuckles rapped by the 'Show some respect to the dead man' police.FFS even when my own mother was dying/had died,we were still able to laugh at things but hey ho..maybe that makes me a BAD DAUGHTER Roll Eyes

I dont even think theres a respect/disrespect dichotomy either. He left behind a tremendous musical legacy, but I dont feel any grief for him personally. And I certainly don't see why laughter at a joke is so disrespectful tbh.
