Hmmm from Ben's perspective it could be a cultural issue as to why he's frustrated, but a few of them in there have had some interesting life experiences I would have thought? And there is enough of a mix in there to learn from each other or see different viewpoints. I just dont see any conversations about them as people or their lives, any lengthy convos normally have the base ingredient of John James and is usually about nominations or how much he doesn't care what people think of him on the 'outside world' (Grrr I'm so sick of hearing those 2 words )

Or maybe we're just not getting to see the convos they have (or try to have) with each other? I dunno, but it all just seems so bland and self-obsessed this year. It's like hardly any of them are trying to get to know the other, the only 2 people I have seen who have had any deep and meaningfuls are Mario and Ben. (John James and Josie just talk shite)

No, there are plenty of people he could have a conversation with...really intelligent people usually have a curiosity about things outside their own experience.

He just wants to talk ad nauseum about things he finds relevant and can show off his knowledge of.and shows little interest in listening to what other people might find fascinating and learning something new. 

He comes across as a pompous windbag!.

I don't like a lot of his characteristics. If I was in there with him we'd have come to blows ages ago. But he's not some daft caricature. He can be shallow, patronising, self centred and bone idle. He can also be witty, funny, caring and acerbic.

But the liking HIM  is neither here nor there. The liking him IN there is what's important. And I do like him in the house.

He was making an observation of her behaviour since a new guy had entered the house, her imaginary boyfriend agreed with Ben too. Even though he turned it around to use it to nominate Ben.

I think peeps don't like upfront, truthful peeps, especially when well spoken.

Mainly agree with River Rock.  I liked Ben at first but hissuperior air is begining to grate, and yes, I could answer the questions in his quiz.  Would have been nice of him to ask if anyone else wanted to pose questions rather than prolonging his input in the hope of proving how 'intelligent' he is. It's all about me, it's all about me, HMs...

 

Great post. I can't pretend I've ever liked him but who the hell does he think he is spouting stuff like that. Nasty, nasty, poisonous person who thinks he can say anything if it's prefixed by (you know I love .....to bits', 'you know I have the utmost respect for .....'., '........is my dearest friend but'.

Ben has a right to express his opinion, it doesn't always have to be nicey nicey, that would not be real.

its ok for everyone to slate everyone else in the house, and especially when its about ben, but not ok for ben to do it.

i think ben and mario are as  bad as each other and neither of them take  it  seriously, even if they both  get petulant about it.
