i like him because hes a classic English eccentric, a true one off who nevertheless wants to understand and get on with other people. He is honest (too honest sometimes) about his thoughts and feelings and is a total gent. Any gameplan he has now, is a reaction to the way he has been treated. Although he lacks some social skills he has a clear grasp of social dynamics that the others, excepting Marcus and Siavash clearly lack, otherwise they would see the pattern that they are following!
