His name is Halfwit, that was the condition of him being given full HM status.

Probably because he has more wit than anyone else in the house.
Same reason we call some housemates wankers, it's preference isn't it
I decided that it would be invidious to continue calling him Halfwit when he had the chance to claim his name back but instead allowed the utterly ungrateful Noirin to reclaim her face.
To be consistent I no longer refer to Sophie as Dogface.
Therefore I have made a choice which is independent of any decisions that BB does or doesn't make.

I always call him Freddie and 'dogface' Sophie.quote:Originally posted by captain marbles:

Wonder why KIB didn't ask why people call Dogface 'Sophie?'

This.
Because there are housemates in there who deserve the name more than Freddie.

That is true, It's Dogface and Halfwit, not Sophie and Freddie.

I know but let's leave Siavash out of this.

Lets just say that my nickname for him is Freddie just as my nickname for Kris was Wanker and leave it at that.

For the same reason I call Sophie "Sophie" and not "Dogface". I think it was a stupid joke by BB which is long past it's sell-by date.
Unlike many, I don't doubt the legality of BB's name changes, but I don't see why we have to use a person's "official" name. I've known many people who were generally not known by their "proper" names. For example, both my mother and her brother were never referred-to by friends and family using their proper birth-certificate names.
A quick question to the OP: do you insist on calling Prince Charles's second son "Prince Henry"? After all, that's his legal name; not "Harry"...

I always use Halfwit because that is what he is called on BB and is generally known by on the show.

No, I have a much stronger name for that lot of scroungers.
If people want to call him Freddie, then that is entirely up to them; they don't have to explain themselves to anyone. As someone has already said, MANY people in life don't go by their given name or official name. And the halfwit thing is WAAAAAY past it's sell date anyway, and just sounds stupid. So I shall call him Freddie. Like it or lump it
Another anti Freddie thread? someones still bitter about Kris going so early...

To the contrary, everyone else seems more obsessed about Kris than me, the thread is not about Kris.
A quick visit to the Channel 4 site http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/ reveals that there are no HMs by the name of Sophie and Freddie.
There is however Dogface and Halfwit.

yeah but your name is..
cause people who refer to him as halfwit generally have no wits
Freddie's quicker to type
Because I want to. I don't call anyone on the forum by their real legal names either.
the name halfwit would confuse us too much as it could be anyone
Resorting to insulting FMs ?quote:Originally posted by clumsycat:

Just because BB choose to use a particular HM name for their own reasons, they can't force others to do so.
One of the more interesting side-effects of Michelle being confined to the bedsit in BB5 was that the other HMs took to referring to "Shell" by her proper, and preferred, name - Michelle.

I dont like that he was called halfwit or Sophie dogface.
I've always called him Freddie. The HM's and BB may have to call him Halfwit but I can make my own choice what to call him I also call Sophie by her real name
