Because they did the nominations in front of each other, so everyone knew who was up for eviction. It would have been pointless to leave the S+R task till the following day.

 Just gives Crab eyes one extra day of bitching with Dave .It usually start on a Tuesday.

I still don't know who won the S&R, was it Mario?

Yes. Mario won. He put up Sam.
Many felt he should have put up John James.
Personally I think that would have been a waste of time.
It would have just dissipated the votes for John James and Dave, resulting in neither of them going.
This way there is a much better chance getting Dave out. (For those who want Dave out of course.)

I do think it was wise not to put up John James this week.
That would have achieved nothing and would have been a wasted gesture.
