Not me

Husband, three teenage sons that still want stockings(Christmas by the way

Father , and two brothers.............All coming for Christmas dinner.

That's me , and SEVEN men, and not a one of them any use in the kitchen.

It's going to be one long slog for me this year, and I haven't got the excitement of little kids anymore

Oh no no NO lady you get the teenage boys to help! You're not snow white looking after the 7 dwarves. Even if it's nowt cooking wise, get them to set places and help with the housework and help with serving the food on the day.

Men are so damn demanding (sometimes)

Oooh better still, dont cook frig all, let them turn up and then you bugger off out to a restaurant for your dinner

Lowon can you not organise for someone else to do all the fussing for one year so you can get some time alone with just you and your nearest?
i know it sounds bad, and I do love my mum, but I don't like what she does in many things.  She bought a weekend property within a year of us moving away, it is 3 doors away, and she comes here every christmas  now with her new partner. When shw was on her own I understood , but not now. His family live near to their full-time home, why can't they spend a christmas with them. FAMILIES

I always look forward to christmas  and yes do moan a little in the build up but there are only 3 of us and as much as I miss having little ones and the magic of father christmas and has he been at an unearthly hour of the night it is nice to have an adult one as well

I prepare everything christmas eve and that lasts us several days with minimum time needed in the kitchen .......  OH plays father christmas at the local childrens ward while I do lunch and then a lazy boozy time is had by all .  Sometimes we get visitors drop in during the evening but by then I am past caring

Last year was the worst one ever - during the few days before we all dropped like flies with the dreaded flu and didnt recover until well into the new year - wont forget that one in a hurry so this year can only be better

I'll be having two christmases again this year. The first will be the weekend before, when I'll be celebrating it with my daughter and grand-daughter. We always have the bestest of times, and it's lovely having a little one to share Christmas with. Their excitement and pleasure is so infectious, and I love it!

My second one will be on Christmas Day, but is really a bit of a chore. However, it is miles better than spending the day by myself! Do I sound like a moaning Ebeneezer Scrooge?

I'm getting excited.  I'm usually more excited than the kids but this year it's late in arriving!  Have most of the kids stuff bought so just have some other people to buy to.  I'm telling my mates that I'm not buying to them and their kids this year, not only because of money but because I spend the 3 weeks prior to xmas in town tryin to find something nice but I'm not doing it this year.  So I only have around 10 people to buy to now.

Last xmas day I went to my aunts where all the family meet up and had a few too many vodkas for brekkie and had to come home and have a kip.  Woke up to some burnt meat and my Mum-in-law and bro-in-law waiting for me to start cooking   Had a bad headache all through the day so I couldn't enjoy myself

SO...this year the MIL has invited us to hers but I don't think the kids will be happy to leave thier toys so I am staying here all day, in my PJs goddammit, cooking at my own pace and not touching alcohol til at least 7pm.  Will have the MIL and BIL aswell but I don't mind them.

Last years was a bit depressing, with my grandad dying then the dog dying then my dad getting arrested. And I came home from university on 22nd with no voice, no appetite and a horrific cough. Got my appetite back just in time for xmas dinner but my cough was so painful it made me cry.
This year is going to be awesome- I'm not even fussed about presents I just can't wait to get to spend time with the family and it to be all christmassy. Although I have finals right after christmas so I may have to spend some time revising
