My my niece is 16 in August, and is having a fancy dress party where everyone has to go as one of her initials. Her initials are C & P. Oh god it's inviting danger
Anyway her surname is Phillips, so Mr C and I are considering going as:
Him going dressed as the birthday girl, and me dressed as a Phillips screwdriver. I need inspiration as to how to make the outfit.

I'm really late to this thread and it's probably already a done deal but... Top Gun is a good one. Ray Bans, and the androgynous uniform sexed up always looks good - even on a bus! If you want to be truly authentic then hire a short arsed nutjob with a cheesey grin and you're good to go

Oooh yes, and there's loads of beaded flapper style party dresses that would fit the bill. all you need is a few accessories (ciggy holder, beaded head band, long gloves), perfect. You wouldn't even need to wear all the trim until you got to the party.
Ooooooh I saw a lovely dress in Miss Selfridge the other day - with a cloche hat it'd be good as Daisy from The Great Gatsby .......I'm off to see if it's online.
