Black and white checked trousers are making me think of chef's trousers. What about the Swedish chef from the muppets? You'd need a moustache.
Well, if I didn't shave for a week!!
But is it fictional? As in bookish?
No. It's a muppet. Just like me.

I thought it was a pretty easy option, even though I said it myself
Cut of trousers - flat shoes - straw hat - Becky Thatcher (Tom Sawyer)
Nurses outfit - Nurse Ratchet - One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

On a serious note, have you got a budget and anything you particularly want to avoid?
Budget - I don't want to spend a lot on things I won't use again ... but I don't mind spending as much as it needs if it's stuff that I can wear again (and again)
Avoid - lots of face make up as it might be hot, and it's a long day. Short skirts. Silky, clingy fabrics. Obvious 'fancy dress hire shop' outfits.
